Friends, I realised the other day that all them folks out there getting divorced means that there's a huge demand all the time for new dwellings. People separate and then one of them has to find a new home or dwelling. Because folks are doing this many times over, more than it happened 30 years agoo, this demographic trend would mean a higher demand for homes. But there's a demographic deluge coming. Another one that will mean more folks will be breaking off and needing a roof over their dainty little heads. And yet another demographic deluge that no one has even considered yet, but which surely will come, as in EU countries it's already OK to do it.
Pity the people getting divorced can not afford to buy a home each or your premise would be valid. Nope, BJ, fail....
I see his point. They have to live somewhere. Also, if gay marriage is legalised, then that's a whole new economy and demand. IF the next step is taken, like it has in Europe, there's another step.
He's right because they still have jobs in the neighbourhoods. Or friends.

As them folks say over there in Asia, may you live in interesting times friends.
why demand for new dwellings? i would expect a common catalyst for divorce, whether directly or indirectly, is infidelity - hence why two people in a relationship have separate housing? irregardless one of the following scenarios are available:
scenario 1: both divorcees leave the primary residence, both divorcees decide to live with another partner/family/friend/share household, net result one extra house available for rent/purchase
scenario 2: one divorcee remains in the primary residence, other divorcee moves in with another partner/family/friend/share household, net result zero
scenario 3: one divorcee remains the primary residence, other divorcee moves into another house demanding a new household, net result demand for one property
What statistics you have to know which of the above scenarios is prevalent? i don't think Australian Bureau of Statistics have a 'who are you shacking up with after your divorce?' index.
At the end of the day the above scenarios indicate that there may be just as much reasoning that divorce frees up housing.

I doubt many middle-aged people (possibly with kids) are going to want to live in a share house or move back in with their elderly parents on anything more than a very temporary basis. Once you've had a taste of independent living, it's going to be pretty hard to go back to sharing somebody else's spare room or sofa, especially at that stage of life.
Yes friend. These divorced folks want their own roost.
And if they allow the Gay Marriage here, then there's another demographic for the realtors to get. They'll be buying (marrying) and selling and buying (divorcing) like crazy sauce.
And if they allow the other thing I speak of here, like they do in parts of Europe, with the sisters and brothers, then there's another demographic for the realtors to get. They'll be marrying and divorcing like crazy sauce also.
