Why are we forgetting Harlem? Why the geographical discrimination?

And yes, I know what a co-op is, you have to be pre screened by the board of the company that owns the building, you don't really own the apartment, you own a share in the company that owns the entire building.
Just because it's a co-op doesnt make it cheap:

http://streeteasy.com/nyc/sale/917993-coop-16-hudson-street-tribeca-new-york

3 beds
2 baths
3,000 ft²
$8,999,000
Co-op apartments are generally much cheaper than proper titled places. For good reason.....

Ok how about this - find the cheapest, non co-op, 2 bed apartment (say 800sq/ft or larger?), in Manhattan proper south of 106th St that you can, and let's see what it's like and how much?

For Aussie property bears, "denial", is not just a long river in North Africa.....

5 rooms, 2 beds

I love this game, the snobs keep adding restrictions to the original search, just to make their city look cheaper than New York.

It's Manhattan for [Insert name of Deity of choice]'s sake, of course its going to be more expensive, there are 1,600,000 people living in a land area of 59 km2 (roughly double the size of Sydney City CBD), thats just over a third of the population of the entire area of Sydney Metro.

Many on here are always saying American homes are cheap and make out that one can live in desirable locales * at a far more affordable wage year multiple than here.
(* anywhere else is a ghetto or bumfuck so they say)

This article pokes holes in their delusion.

Whats that wage year multiple for Sydney again?

Median in L.A is a shit example you retard. You ever been to that city?

1
6414 S Hoover St Los Angeles, CA FEATURED
$159,900
Los Angeles, CA 90044

Went to Boston Mel. I was only there five days. I went to see the rock band Rush.
I did get on the piss one day with an Aussie married to a yank and went back to their house. Nice place quite big red brick home. From memory i think they paid 400K+ us for it. They said Boston, New York were very expensive housing markets. Great place to visit. Prices go down rapidly as you train out of town apparantly. I couldnt get over the colour of the trees up in Cambridge. I could easily end up over there.

i remember you were pretty happy when you returned, it sounds like a well balanced market if there are affordable homes on the outskirts. Im a real sucker for old red brick homes and bright green/lime elms.. melbournes inner east has some sensational trees that should have been planted throughout the entire city rather than the ugly ass gumtrees 90% of the suburbs received - they're nice in the bush but they are a poor choice for urban living imo.

Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is the Australian property market a pyramid scheme or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices really rise forever? These are the questions we address on Australian Property Forum, the premier real estate site for property bears, bulls, investors, and speculators. Members may also discuss matters related to finance, modern monetary theory (MMT), debt deflation, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, property investing, landlords, tenants, debt consolidation, reverse home equity loans, the housing shortage, negative gearing, capital gains tax, land tax and macro prudential regulation.

Forum Rules: The main forum may be used to discuss property, politics, economics and finance, precious metals, crypto currency, debt management, generational divides, climate change, sustainability, alternative energy, environmental topics, human rights or social justice issues, and other topics on a case by case basis.
