Many on here are always saying American homes are cheap and make out that one can live in desirable locales * at a far more affordable wage year multiple than here. (* anywhere else is a ghetto or bumfuck so they say)
This article pokes holes in their delusion.

10. Los Angeles
Cost of Living: 30.8% above average City Population: 3,819,702 Median Household Income: $50,028 (U.S.: $52,762) Median Home Value: $513,600 (U.S.: $186,200) 10x wage years
Beverly Hills shopping sprees aside, living in L.A. is surprisingly affordable on many fronts. Health care, groceries and utilities don’t cost much more than is typical for the nation as a whole. That’s good news considering that household incomes fall slightly below the norm. However, transportation costs are 12% above average -- think about all of the gas wasted in the city’s infamous traffic jams -- and housing expenses are nearly double the national average. The median home value in L.A. is more than half a million dollars.

1. New York
Cost of Living: 125.4% above average (Manhattan only) City Population: 8,244,910 Median Household Income: $51,270 Median Home Value: $514,900 10x wage years
If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. New York takes the top spot on our list of the most expensive cities, thanks in large part to its famously exorbitant real estate market. Housing costs in Manhattan, New York City’s most expensive borough, are 4.5 times the national average. Even in Brooklyn, they are nearly 3.5 times the norm; in Queens, more than double. The financial pain doesn’t stop there. Steep commercial rents and distribution costs mean groceries run more in New York than just about anywhere else in the U.S. Consider this: A T-bone steak from a Manhattan grocer averages $15.52. In Harlingen, Texas, the cheapest place to live in America, the same steak goes for $8.34.

Whats that wage year multiple for Sydney again?
Friend, are you seriously comparing Sydney Town with LA and NY?
Aspies like you wouldn't last 5 minutes in either of them cities. You can't make a comparison. Over there you have to make a conversation about real life, not about your ghetto investment properties and the bubble, which is about the only BBQ conversation you can have in your ass-end town.

Get real friendo.
What he also fails to realize ,is that there are fewer homes selling than at the low of 2008. look in the link below franky, what you see is that the madian has gone up from a while back but these are just homes that were selling for a million or so back then and are now selling for half that.
Frank lives and buys IP'S in far north queensland , and needs to compare his area with places like this in the link below. Yes frank, they are cheap, thats whats happens when a housing bubble bursts.
Aspies like me? I am not an aspie, I know where I am in life and live life accordingly and to that budget and always have and am more than happy with it thanks. I live well and pay cash for everything - I dont even have a credit card. I do not "aspire" to live in an area I can ill afford or at least justify I do not "aspire" to drive an expensive motor car that in reality - gets me to where I am going the same as my current vehicular mode of transport. I do not "aspire" to eat, drink and associate with what I have noticed are "mostly pretenders" many living no better than pay-packet to pay-packet due to their pwetentious twatiness "aspirations" and delusion that they are somehow, better than they really are.
You see, I was never raised under the delusion that I was more deserving than anyone else And as long as one had capacity to earn, a full belly, good health, a roof over their head and a loving family that the reality was, that I was doing better than most.
YOU on the other hand seem to "aspire" to be something that quite clearly you are not. Near every post is full of "tears of impotent rage", being shed at what you see to be the high priced ghettos of where you claim to live - Brisbane Town Yet in the next breath you also proclaim Brisbane Town to be the greatest town on earth You clearly have issues - Seek help.

Friend it is the greatest city on earth, at least for me, Billy Jack. And I love the place, warts and all. Did y'all notice how I don't mind talking about them warts? Brood on it, friendo, brood on it.
Well friend, I see you aint as aspie as I thought, but it's obvious you are the Number 1 Ichi-ban Aspie for one thing:
Comparing your ghetto and your life there with the likes of housing and life in LA and NYC. :pop:
What you FAIL to realise (with an S here) is that detroit has a population that has been decimated with decreasing job opportunities. Where I have invested has an increasing population and increasing job opportunities. Can you see the difference?
Speak to goldbug, crazy dave, ted bullshit. HE invested in places like detroit - MORONbah has been smashed - rents have practically halved and values have dropped considerably

Have you been having mojitos with Cat-weasel and his cousins?
Just look at your responses here frank. Firstly I am not goldbug, I have stated that before .
You say I invest in moranbah, I would never invest up your end of town , I have explained why. I just told you at the begginning of 2012 that it would go up over 20% in 2012 along with dysart, and at the begginning of 2013 when the results came out that one had gone up just over 20% and the other over 19%, I also explained how risky they were and that they could collapse at any moment and how I would never invest there. So I gave you mindless people that wish to call me a bear instead of a realist, a couple of places that would see 20% growth over 2012, andI was right, but instead of hearing .yes you were right, well done. I was right frank and I would never ever pay those ridiculous prices for the junk they were selling there but have to listen to you
LA and NY are one of the most important cities, if not the two most important cities in the world.
You can't become a big hollywood star in Sydney, and in NY your $500k will buy you an apartment right in the middle of all the action, not in some shit bogan suburb.
Add to that they've had years of money printing.
You're an idiot.
stinkbug omosessuale Frank Castle is a liar and a criminal. He will often deliberately take people out of context and use straw man arguments. Frank finally and unintentionally gives it up and admits he got where he is, primarily via dumb luck! See here Property will be 50-70% off by 2016.
