Just a suggestion Peter - what about adding some comments of your own?
Especially considering it is such a pointless topic. Might as well discuss the pet culture that has grown into a multi billion dollar business to pamper what used to be just guard dogs and mouse catchers.
Shadow was hopelessly wrong about the Gold Bull Market. What else is he wrong about?
There are not many men at he age of 40+ with a heart beat that can say no to a pretty 18 year old girl. When she is peering into his eyes and say yes when he asks her would you like to grab a coffee. When she takes an interest in him. When she says i am not into young guys. They are not mature. When she likes going to a fine restaurant. When she will sit for hours watching the river and dolphins play. In Japan wives encourage their men to have a young girl friend.
Monogamy is an ideal, but it is not natural, it is a choice.
So good luck with that one.

Oh my gods, what a stupid argument.
Rape and violence exist in our current civilisation, but that's not the point, rape and violence is non-consensual by their very nature whereas polygamy and monogamy amongst humans should be entirely about consent.
Humans are not separate from animals, if you're alive and not a plant, then you're an animal.
So true, This is a debate between idealists and realists. I almost wish the idealist could win. But oh such a fight. And just to reject the pleasures of the flesh.
I can resist everything except temptation The only way i deal with it is to surrender to it completely.

I can see why with such a low view of yourself, you'd set such a low standard for yourself.
Property speculation is a type of gambling... But everyone knows that in gambling, the house always wins in the end.
Here's something interesting I read while looking up bonobo's (our closest evolutionary relative):
They live in an area with a relatively large supply of available food.
They travel in much larger groups because food is abundant.
There is a reduced level of violence between males, between males and females, and between neighboring groups.
There is no evidence of rape, infanticide, or battering of females.
The top female and male are equal to each other.
Females cooperate much closer with other females, forming coalitions for protection and mutual support.
Males never cooperate with each other for defense or to attack females. Even the highest ranking male can be defeated by females ganging up on him.
Females engage in mutual friendships that include erotic love-making, mutual masturbation, lesbianism (genito-genital rubbing) and grooming as a way of bonding.
Males also practice mutual masturbation, and there is no competition for mating with females capable of hiding when they can become pregnant.
Bonobos have sex to make friends, and can mate or have sex dozens of times a day.

you could be onto something Herbie, i just told my mrs about the Japanese wives encouraging a younger girlfriend and she was all for it. She said something to the effect of 'sounds like a great idea - it would give me a break from all your bullshit' as she walked out the room.
fingers crossed
APF - a place where serious people don't take themselves too seriously. There's nothing else like it.
Yeah Well I'm not going to break my own rule about judging & assuming anyone, let alone on an Internet forum.
I do have my value system.
Marketing strategies is based on the fact that sex does indeed sell, in my experience in the fashion biz, I've seen the good, bad & shit of some very beautiful people. Beauty is really skin deep. You got it, well you flaunt it to make the $$, however, if you haven't made it big, by the time you get to early twenties you are considered to have a use by date. You are essentially replaced quickly by someone younger, I left some contracts not always on my terms. My Father didnt feel always comfortable with me doing some contracts , he would always say..."as long you don't take off the bikini."......well I never did.
Under 18 you can get dolled up to look older, I certainly did, sugar daddies do exist. It really depends if a girl was ever ok at being pampered , yeah well lust can do shitty things , people do get hurt.
It's love that lasts, if it's genuine you do get through the shit times, no one has a perfect life..no one.
I suppose if there was no such thing as marriage, I would of ended up being bisexual. Those who are religious, may find that offensive , but I've lost my religion a long time ago, when I lost 2 precious innocents....
Newjerk? can you try harder than dig up another person's blog. My first promo was with Billabong and my name in English is modified with a T, am Perth born but also lived in Sydney to make my $$ It's Absolutely Fabulous if it includes brilliant locations, & high calibre tenants..what more does one want? Understand the power of the two "P"" or be financially challenged Even better when there is family who are property mad and one is born in some entitlements.....Understand that beautiful women are the exhibitionists we crave attention, whilst hot blooded men are the voyeurs ... A stunning woman can command and takes pleasure in being noticed. Seems not too many understand what it means to hold and own props and get threatened by those who do. Banks are considered to be law abiding and & rather boring places yeah not true . A bank balance sheet will show capital is dwarfed by their liabilities this means when a portions of loans is falling its problems for the bank.
Oh dear this discussion brings me right back to the 60s hippy culture debate, like Herbie says we have heard it all before.
The truth is that we are a monogamous society because we want it that way. Multiple partners are very unlikely to become mainstream as really I cannot see why any person with any self respect would find that kind of life acceptable long term. I have seen men stay with promiscuous women and vice versa but usually there are underlying psychological problems behind this as it is certainly not something anyone wants. These are the domains of codependent and love addicted people who make such messes of their lives IMHO.
Definition of a doom and gloomer from 1993 The last camp is made up of the doom-and-gloomers. Their slogan is "it's the end of the world as we know it". Right now they are convinced that debt is the evil responsible for all our economic woes and must be eliminated at all cost. Many doom-and-gloomers believe that unprecedented debt levels mean that we are on the precipice of a worse crisis than the Great Depression. The doom-and-gloomers hang on the latest series of negative economic data.
