Goldbugs... what will you do with your gold? What's the point of holding gold?; Will you eventually convert it into real money, or just hoard it for ever?

when gold can tell the time it has much more value Peter. Holding cast bars in a safe seems like such a waste on so many levels.
That's true mel, it also gives it an alternate value rather than just a melt down value.
Now that the GFC has almost ended in the USA the prices are starting to rise quickly - no desperate sellers anymore.

I've got about a dozen to repair at the moment.

Any expressed market opinion is my own and is not to be taken as financial advice

But for its ability to spark reaction.

As investment,

and leave to expert like the Vampire Squid.

But there the whole irony,

mouse indoctrinated in worthless of gold,

(except a Asians),

yet master create whole industry on its the trade,

on a digital paper that maybe not even the exist.

And still the make a 127% in 5 the years.

similar arguments can be made for ETF Cat - if you are doing well betting both ways more power to you though.

There was a thread by the great chewbacca in which people raised some good points about the opportunity cost of buying useless metal for speculation. Even the Count would agree that buying gold is simply 'saving'.

Gold might be better than cash under the mattress for the long run - but how can saving without yield be a positive thing when there are other options?

Catweasel laugh.

The old chin scratch pulling the humor.

Of the course, mouse can buy gold the ETF for as little as a 150 dollar.

Maybe half the day wage in community college cafeteria.

No - first gold buyers (FGB) should get what the baby boomers got in the 1990's. Why should they compromise....?

It is no wonder there is a FGB's strike!!! Petition GetUp!

Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is the Australian property market a pyramid scheme or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices really rise forever? These are the questions we address on Australian Property Forum, the premier real estate site for property bears, bulls, investors, and speculators. Members may also discuss matters related to finance, modern monetary theory (MMT), debt deflation, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, property investing, landlords, tenants, debt consolidation, reverse home equity loans, the housing shortage, negative gearing, capital gains tax, land tax and macro prudential regulation.

Forum Rules: The main forum may be used to discuss property, politics, economics and finance, precious metals, crypto currency, debt management, generational divides, climate change, sustainability, alternative energy, environmental topics, human rights or social justice issues, and other topics on a case by case basis.
