with respect herbie, that would be like living in a country with goat tracks instead of multi-lane highways. It doesn't fit with my vision of a wealthy competitive country. In fact I wouldn't wish it on outer Mongolia.
We have to stop thinking that all we need as individuals is what every user needs and wants. It's just not so, we can do better.
Any expressed market opinion is my own and is not to be taken as financial advice

herbie, I don't care about people ability to download movies or porn, but I do care about our commercial sectors ability to compete internationally and high speed internet will be an integral part of that in the future.
It will be every bit as important as railways, highways, ports, airline terminals, and every other traditional infrastructure we have at present.
A computer and the internet are the new pick and shovel.

one poster had a shot at it - medical consultations via video link. unfortunately this is a fantasy, as a doctor has to touch and feel things as well as just look at them to be effective. and we can do that already with existing technology.

Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is the Australian property market a pyramid scheme or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices really rise forever? These are the questions we address on Australian Property Forum, the premier real estate site for property bears, bulls, investors, and speculators. Members may also discuss matters related to finance, modern monetary theory (MMT), debt deflation, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, property investing, landlords, tenants, debt consolidation, reverse home equity loans, the housing shortage, negative gearing, capital gains tax, land tax and macro prudential regulation.
