Well done Timmy, wish I had bought at the same time.

No reason why you can't buy some more Skamy if you think the trend will continue. Traditionally, iron ore prices fall off the ledge in Sept. However, this 'tradition' is normally driven by events. timmy has said he expects no fall off this year, so it could be a time to buy and make a little cash for a nice xmas holiday. It's never too late. Enjoy.

Well made points, but I keep asking myself whether half the worlds population (centred in Asia and the subcontinent) who are industrious, clever, and have the same dreams and ambitions that we have, will be happy to live without the things that we take for granted - and everytime I answer myself NO.

They need raw materials, and where will they get those raw materials from?
We only really want those things because we are told we want those things. The bloke I sit next to spends over £1000 a year on phones alone, runs two big new cars, and wonders why my paid off house is worth three times more than his when we do the same job. But maybe times are changing. I asked my son if all his friends were moving over to the new xbox. He just looked at me like I was an idiot. 'Why would they do that' he asked. Maybe the next generation will demand something substantial in their markup products. Or maybe I'm putting too much faith in the younger generation, and maybe the new xbox is just crap.

Once again seeing as you never backed it up last time you said it...evidence.

CURRENT evidence, not 2011 figures.
After your little cry on the other thread pwincess I looked around for 2012 figures, found them, and Indonesia is still the worlds largest coal exporter. I was going to post the links, but then I realised that (a) You are a blight on society, a mould, a cancer, and giving you any attention will just cause you to grow (b) I don't give a fuck what you think and (b) there is no reason to ever take you off ignore again.

Just looking at my nieces and nephews, they seem to be a lot less into the latest gadgets than people seemed to be in the ninetys and naughties. Maybe being tech maven is not the aspiration for the teens.

The pace of innovation also seems to have slowed down a bit.

Anecdotal musings only, of course.

The 'latest phone/tablet fad' does seem to be a feature of the 30 something. Maybe there is a future for our kids away from consumerism. I hope so. God I hope so. Hell, maybe even grunge will come back (did it ever leave?)

I have made a major commitment. We are sanding down out old dining room table and varnishing it. Nothing wrong with it apart from lots of surface chips. It's hard work, but it's looking fantastic. I'm just getting sick of buying stuff and taking other stuff to the tip. It's a nice table, and I just couldn't face throwing it away.

I just disengaged the tractor beam that was preventing you from posting your links from 'last you looked'. I eagerly await.

No, you are claiming that since 2011 Australia has again surpassed Indonesia in export volume. You also claim that it is because of the rise it met coal exports. Since you know, what is stopping you?

Says the guy who won't post any kind of evidence to the contrary. You said 'last i looked'. I suspect you didn't look and you are just lying about that, but would be delighted and surprised to be wrong.

I merely asked for you to show me the numbers. Trying to point the finger at me in some kind of reverse logic only confirms you are full of shit.
If you want to run around calling other people idiots and saying they are wrong you best get your own facts in order first. You look very foolish on this one.

Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is the Australian property market a pyramid scheme or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices really rise forever? These are the questions we address on Australian Property Forum, the premier real estate site for property bears, bulls, investors, and speculators. Members may also discuss matters related to finance, modern monetary theory (MMT), debt deflation, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, property investing, landlords, tenants, debt consolidation, reverse home equity loans, the housing shortage, negative gearing, capital gains tax, land tax and macro prudential regulation.

Forum Rules: The main forum may be used to discuss property, politics, economics and finance, precious metals, crypto currency, debt management, generational divides, climate change, sustainability, alternative energy, environmental topics, human rights or social justice issues, and other topics on a case by case basis. Topics unsuitable for the main forum may be discussed in the lounge. You agree you won't use this forum to post material that is illegal, private, defamatory, pornographic, excessively abusive or profane, threatening, or invasive of another forum member's privacy. Accusations, attacks, abuse or threats, litigious or otherwise, directed against the forum or forum administrators aren't tolerated and will result in immediate suspension of your account for a number of days depending on the severity of the attack. No spamming or advertising in the main forum. Spamming includes repeating the same message over and over again within a short period of time. Don't post ALL CAPS thread titles. The Advertising and Promotion Subforum may be used to promote your Australian property related business or service. Active members of the forum who contribute regularly to main forum discussions may also include a link to their product or service in their signature block.
