I dismiss them as opinions of those of the "self interest" A shill (paid) works under the "vested interest"
You seriously think someone who wants the real estate market to go up will pay Shadow (plus others) for the hours he spends posting here and think its advertising budget well spent? Oh come on, this forum is great and all but even on minimum wage, they would have spent over tens of thousands of dollars on Shadow's salary and its not going to change the overall property market a single iota.
Its not like shares where you can ramp up a single stock and profit immediately.
The bear case in this argument appears to be that if you are a fucktard or you are otherwise disabled, you cannot afford to buy or rent your own home in Australia and therefore Shadow is a shill to say that anybody on a minimum wage can afford to buy or rent their own home in Australia.

No I did not think that nor say that, I just said that his mannerisms could be likened to that of a shill (paid).
Like I said, I really do not care if he is or is not, or you for that mattter.......
I share similiar views to Shadows on Climate Change.
There are some people who seem angry and continuously look for conflict. Walk away, the battle they are fighting isn't with you, it's with themselves.
The first lesson of economics is scarcity: There is not enough of anything to satisfy all who want it. The first lesson of politics is to disregard the first lesson of economics. ~ Thomas Sowell.
Who was the fool, who the wise man, who the beggar or the Emperor? Whether rich or poor, all are equal in death.

Your irrelevant strawman has already been addressed. Repeating it doesn't make it any more relevant.
Nobody is claiming that it is common for people on minimum income to buy a home. Most lack the financial discipline.
However, anyone on minimum wage CAN afford to buy or rent a home in Australia.
Why on earth would you be dismissing your own model for minimum-wage affordability of purchased housing as a "Straw Man", Shadow???
I would have thought you would welcome someone taking you seriously...?!?
Let's go over the parameters again:
1) Minimum wage is $606 per week. - Mind you, that's based on 38 hours per week, but if offered work is less than that ... Shadow doesn't want to know
2) [Shadow's] original proposition is that anyone on minimum wage can afford to buy or rent a home in Australia. They can buy their own home "for around $200 per week.", based on - Buyer eligible for $7K FHOG. [which is actually state-dependent] - No stamp duty payable on WA FHB purchases under $500K. - Assumed 20% deposit - Westpac 3-year fixed rate of 5.39% - payments are $207 per wk.
3) Now, all we need is someone to fess up about meeting all those guidelines--notably the 20% deposit--with a minimum wage income...
And here is where Shadow panics about "your irrelevant strawman"!! He pretends to mean "my" strawman, despite all relevant data being taken from "his" posts.
4) Strindberg, meanwhile, has implied I am raising another "straw man", with regards to my reiterations of Shadow's own posts. Yet after repeated requests, Strindberg lacks the courage to actually detail this "straw man", let alone justify any attempts to debunk it. Perhaps I merely highlight where Shadow is wrong, Strindberg.

It's a standard property bear tactic - I've seen it used since at least 2007 when I started posting on these forums. It goes something like this...
1. Bull posts facts/data/analysis
2. Bears are irritated by the facts/data/analysis because it causes them to doubt their own position
3. Bears attempt to refute the facts/data/analysis, but fail
4. Bears make up strawman argument, attribute that argument to the bull, and attempt to refute that instead (but get called on their transparent efforts)
5. Bears attempt to change the topic, or make the argument about 'semantics', or some other red herring
6. Bears accuse bull of being a troll/sockpuppet/shill (as if that would somehow render the bull's argument void)
7. Bears ask mods to ban the bulls (terminal phase resulting in destruction of forum, as per GHPC and Credit Crunch)
Meanwhile, house prices continue to not crash... and the bears grow more irritable and paranoid by the day...
You could have just simplified that by writing, "I am right all the time and the rest of you are always wrong"
Can we not just debate stuff without you and Stringberg constantly looking to play king of the castle?
Property acquisition as a topic was almost a national obsession. You couldn't even call it speculation as the buyers all presumed the price of property could only go up. That’s why we use the word obsession. Ordinary people were buying properties for their young children who had not even left school assuming they would not be able to afford property of their own when they left college- Klaus Regling on Ireland. Sound familiar?
The evidence of nearly 40 cycles in house prices for 17 OECD economies since 1970 shows that real house prices typically give up about 70 per cent of their rise in the subsequent fall, and that these falls occur slowly. Morgan Kelly:On the Likely Extent of Falls in Irish House Prices, 2007

Anybody who wanted to be intelligent about meeting Shadows criteria can do it.
Eg If you can hardly speak any language at all but are able bodied, get a toilet/sink/floor cleaning job at a hospital, get subsidised meals and hang out with the other staff who are not paid very much either.
Now, all we need is someone to fess up about meeting all those guidelines--notably the 20% deposit--with a minimum wage income
Clueless about your stats mate, you need to ask the question to a selection of min wage earners selected at random from the public, not ask it of the hundred people posting on apf who seem to be mostly well to do individuals, a survey of the people on this site here has no statistical significance, doubt there's be any min wages earners here at all , anyone with a passing understanding of stats would get that
