"We only wanted three children. But they kept coming and coming," Cabenan said this week at her ramshackle home in Baseco, a massive slum in Manila where more than 60,000 people compete for space

Quote:

A devout Catholic who still goes to mass twice a week, Cabenan nevertheless regrets following the church dogma so strictly and said she welcomed the Responsible Parenthood Law that officially took effect on Thursday.

"I tell women now, please do not be like me. I have too many children, and sometimes I do not know what to do and just cry, especially when they fight," she said.

The law requires government health centres to hand out free condoms and birth control pills, benefiting tens of millions of the country's poor who would not otherwise be able to afford or have access to them.

What's with the Catholic church? Why do they insist on populating the planet with vermin? I bet most bulls on this forum come from Catholic stock.

Why does the left not stand up to this crap? Do they think technology will save us?

Not that they are the primary offenders. The Chinese are mostly atheist as far as I know, and Indians are Hindus and Indonesians Muslim.

Nup, I'm agnostic at best. :D

Although I hear the protestant church groups are good pick up joints, maybe I should have been a Christian.

You just have to have a lobotomy.

In your case, a lobotomy would be redundant :lol

The catholic church has it all worked out moops. The only methods of 100% fail safe contraception they allow is to fuck prepubescent children.

I hear it is absolutly effective, and it shows given how widely practiced it is by the clergy.

I honestly do not understand people who haveInfo many children. I know one woman who has 9. Good for her she and her husband can support them, but still...9 children it must be extremely exhausting. I think 3 is the maximum number of kids to have, at least, for me.

I don't know how the hell they did it back in the populate or perish days. Must have been a nut house. Yet those kids turned out to be the best people in history.

Wasn't that different due too high infant mortality, but the average number of live children wasn't that much greater. Another factor in population growth was child bearing at younger ages. As for a mad house, the women was a full time child manager.

Quote:

As already mentioned, family sizes have decreased. Between 1900 and 1913 the average was 3-4, but today it is 2-3. The main causes of this being the introduction of many new contraceptive devices, and the Women s liberation movement. Both of these worked together, as many women wanting to have a career before marrying, or having children, use contraception as a way of controlling when they have children, and how many they have. Earlier in the century such advanced forms of contraception that are available today, were not available then. Also, more women are deciding that they do not want any children. It is predicted that 20 per cent of women born in the late 1960s will be childless. (Getley, A., 1996, 124).

Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash.
