That guy was referring to AGW. Which is opinion since nobody knows if humans are causing the warming
False! Here, let me help you out:
Quote:
The skeptic argument There's no empirical evidence "There is no actual evidence that carbon dioxide emissions are causing global warming. Note that computer models are just concatenations of calculations you could do on a hand-held calculator, so they are theoretical and cannot be part of any evidence."
Quote:
What the science says... Direct observations find that CO2 is rising sharply due to human activity. Satellite and surface measurements find less energy is escaping to space at CO2 absorption wavelengths. Ocean and surface temperature measurements find the planet continues to accumulate heat. This gives a line of empirical evidence that human CO2 emissions are causing global warming.
Calling you out on your false claims is not being abusive. You are simply trying to use a diversion tactic now.
I have not made any false claims.
If the Earth is now as warm as it was 1000 years ago then it is likely that natural variability is a significant factor in the current warming.
C02 caused AGW is currently an unproven theory that is plausible and has supporting evidence.
If you want to believe that humans are the only cause of the current warming then you are free to do that but it is not a scientific fact you are right.
C02 caused warming could be essentially irrelevant. We just do not know at this point in time.

You try to play the "it's just a theory" card so popular amongst deniers (especially creationists). However, the facts and evidence are clearly against you. As summarized in the earlier link:
Quote:
So we see a direct line of evidence that we're causing global warming. Human CO2 emissions far outstrip the rise in CO2 levels. The enhanced greenhouse effect is confirmed by satellite and surface measurements. The planet's energy imbalance is confirmed by summations of the planet's total heat content and ocean heat measurements.
Now I ask again, show us the peer reviewed scientific articles to back up your claims. The overwhelming scientific consensus is against you so you need to provide something extraordinary if you wish to overturn that consensus.
But of course you can't otherwise you would be famous.

You are just muddled up.
You are wanting me to believe that the overwhelming majority of scientists are agreeing that the current warming is overwhelming caused by C02 and this is a fact.
The reality is that Science does not work like that. The true position is couched in probabilities and caveats where nobody actually knows what is going to happen with certainty
The climategate emails showed quite clearly the nature of the uncertainty where people were worried it was not warming up, and they were creating a dangerous situation for themselves by describing it in a way that did not take account of the large amount of uncertainty.
If the Earth enters a very long lasting ice age no aspect of our current scientific knowledge would be shown to be wrong.
The scientific evidence supports what i am saying.

I sense you're about to make a few (more...)

Why is that ? I don't follow your logical deduction here. That is also a big IF.
Quote:

Yes. Although more precisely you could say that AGW is currently a unproven theory (yet after many millions of dollars of research to disprove AGW have failed) that is plausible and has significant supporting evidence.

I wouldn't call something that warms our planet from around -15° C to 15°C as "essentially irrelevant" but I guess that is subjective.
You really need to ask yourself about how sure you need to be about something before you are willing to act. What are the pros and cons of acting and not acting. What are the pros and cons of waiting for further information. What is the likelihood of further information contradicting the current theory. etc

Man oh man
You cannot possibly believe that C02 is responsible for warming the planet from -15C to 15C?
And you cannot possibly believe that if the Earth was as warm today as 1000 years ago that is an insignificant factor in assessing the causes of the current warming
Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is the Australian property market a pyramid scheme or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices really rise forever? These are the questions we address on Australian Property Forum, the premier real estate site for property bears, bulls, investors, and speculators. Members may also discuss matters related to finance, modern monetary theory (MMT), debt deflation, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, property investing, landlords, tenants, debt consolidation, reverse home equity loans, the housing shortage, negative gearing, capital gains tax, land tax and macro prudential regulation.
