Yeah.. I'm well aware that oz doesn't produce much thesedays, yes we dig up the ground, & buy & sell property everything else is essentially small stuff. Just realize that provided there is inflation, there is a huge initiative for investors to keep playing the game.
Yes.. History does demonstrate the crappy effects of the Great Depression & yeah we all need to take note of what happened but it's history. You seem to compare the GFC to the GD because it's similar in its effects? The thing with the GFC is that it's structural.
Depression can only be resolved by liquidating.
I do think there's 2 terms that get really misrepresented in its description & defination that it is misrepresented.
1. Bubble 2. Recession
I think it's easy to generalize, each individual suburb is different & often can't be compared with another. Some areas go down, but others do well. The sideways house price issues will not worry long term investors & or homeowners like me, or price declines.
All asset classes have their lean times, even gold ...
The thing is people get in trouble when they use "equity" to buy crap like boats, new car etc instead of hammering down the loan.
The govt does not have unlimited funds & there's a limit to how much people can buy property. So, no the govt is not going to be the total prince charming to save the dummies.
Newjerk? can you try harder than dig up another person's blog. My first promo was with Billabong and my name in English is modified with a T, am Perth born but also lived in Sydney to make my $$ It's Absolutely Fabulous if it includes brilliant locations, & high calibre tenants..what more does one want? Understand the power of the two "P"" or be financially challenged Even better when there is family who are property mad and one is born in some entitlements.....Understand that beautiful women are the exhibitionists we crave attention, whilst hot blooded men are the voyeurs ... A stunning woman can command and takes pleasure in being noticed. Seems not too many understand what it means to hold and own props and get threatened by those who do. Banks are considered to be law abiding and & rather boring places yeah not true . A bank balance sheet will show capital is dwarfed by their liabilities this means when a portions of loans is falling its problems for the bank.
You silly people still keep talking about the long term, as though the next forty years will play out like the last.
But we never had to compete with dirt cheap Chinese wages before, can't you understand this. No you don't
We are in debt to the likes of which makes the great depression look like a walk in the park. We had a way tomove forward from this and did not have dirt cheap aas asain labour to compete with.
You silly people cannot see are jobs are headed overseas indefinitely, with no end in sight.
We have NEVER, EVER, EVER had to deal with anything like this before. The long term is screwed , but you want to sit there and talk shit about the long term. The long term is now screwed thanks to the morons running the western world Blondie.
Your properties and rents are headed backwards indefinitely with no end in sight. That is the long term guarantee our leaders have set in stone. And that was even before the threat of cheap asian labour, so you can throw that on top of the fire too. A major double whammy.
Sorry if I was abusive Blondie, but you don't understand the longer term, not at all, just think everything will be fine, its not fine, in fact its never looked worse.
This period of time is nothing like we have ever seen before, the debt levels completely annililate any debt levels of the great depression and we did not have the threat of dirt cheap asain labour when moving forward from the great depression. But you can all discard that fact even though thats the only thing you really need to know.
Ok, the kids are outa my hair now I've time to mellow out with some plonk & focus on you now Emmy mmmmmms..
You are essentially saying when is all this gonnna stop & will the good times not be sooo good.
Since the global l economy is built on excess credit that seems bottomless, you don't have much confidence that the fundamentals will come good for the future.
I can sorta understand that.. But... You seem to be quite adamant its not the cycle that the big picture is quite negative ..depression ?
I don't think the govt & RBA are independent, it's a rort, let's not pretend they are independent. Inflation effects can be negative & positive it depends on whether you are a homeowner /sucessful investor .
.wages don't always increase at the rate of inflation .debt is not gonna be reduced by inflation .assets do not always increase at the rate of inflation .
So, inflation can be a nasty SOB , higher costs of credit & living, but then deflation can go crappy too, what happens is everything deflates, (house prices credit goes AWOL jobs go ) that's not great either?
I know what you want. Blah!! You want a massive correction?
What do you think the implications of that will be?
Do you understand that even a moderate recession will would be too hard for many people to cope with! Because yes we've had good times throughout yes most of my life time ?
Don't treat property like shares! We might think a 10% drop is ok but property is NOT like shares if everyone had margin loans it would be disruptive.
Investing is about picking the poison, it's either gonna do you good or it can go so bad.
CG shouldn't be accepted as the be all in PI .... any equity is simply created out of a rising market.
Inflationists do win in the long term.
You will always need somewhere to live. You can't live in shares & cash
Low rates & a secure job? Why should that stop some people?
Some would love mArket correction, but I don't think it's gonna be allowed to happen.Another thing for those who luv their shares stuff.. Traders are emotionally driven, so much stock behaviour can be regarded as emotionally driven eg when people get excited with a bounce in the index. When a company gets some bad news don't the shares drop?.. Only to climb up again when rationality sets in?
Sometimes I think who is really more emotive is it people who dabble in shares ?
