Prepare to lose enormous wealth: Triguboff
Turi Condon- The Australian

"The slowdown in the apartment market is worsening and will have a severe impact on the economy if it is not arrested, according to the country’s biggest apartment builder, billionaire Harry Triguboff.

The number of new apartments sold had dropped and prices had fallen about 10 per cent over the past six months, the founder of Meriton Group told The Australian.

“The falling prices will have a big impact on the economy,” said Mr Triguboff, who called on the federal and state governments to review their policies on taxing foreign investors and to expand policies on accessing superannuation for housing....

“The big question is whether the government will allow prices and volumes to go down before they start helping,” Mr Triguboff said.

“Australians could lose an enormous amount of wealth...”

Wealth???

A fiction is by definition a fiction.

A liability is never an asset...

A fiction is by definition a fiction.
What? You mean the concept of equity born from highly speculative exponential asset price growth is fiction?

Damn, how else do people get wealthy?

Should ask Harry.

Harry sounds like he's just realised he's not "too big to fail".

This piece sounds like a desperate plea for govt to save him by protecting the little ones.

8000 apartments losing 10% in 6 months!

He's probably tapped out his equity lol.

And that's just the point Golly, Harry is a commercial entrepreneur and has a risk in every transaction he enters into. He is threatening the government through a scare campaign in order to limit his risk/exposure which any journalist worth a pinch of shite should challenge him on. It can be strongly argued that Harry created a significant portion of the problem by heavily targeting the artificial consumer from SE Asia but predominantly china. This market was artificial as it was chasing speculative gains, now those gains are gone they have pulled away, this has nothing to do with pissy government fees.

He created a significant portion of the 'fiction' and now wants to cement his gains and clear off the last 8,000 before the whole thing collapses, to that Harry I say stiff shite, you made your bed now lay in all 8,000 of them! (Assuming they are all fully furnished in a bid to flog em)

Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is the Australian property market a pyramid scheme or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices really rise forever? These are the questions we address on Australian Property Forum, the premier real estate site for property bears, bulls, investors, and speculators. Members may also discuss matters related to finance, modern monetary theory (MMT), debt deflation, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, property investing, landlords, tenants, debt consolidation, reverse home equity loans, the housing shortage, negative gearing, capital gains tax, land tax and macro prudential regulation.
