Sounds perfect for Chris, would love to see him appear on a show like this.
Chris: 'I'm looking for a penthouse apartment in the heart of Melbourne'
Emily: 'Great and what is your price point?'
Chris: 'Well in 1950 the prices for the apartment I'm after was about 50k, now I've done my own calculations as to what I think the prices should be based on that, so I'm looking within the region of 75k. I could maybe stretch to 100k if I can get the banks to approve a 10% deposit.'

Hilarious. I could imagine dinner parties would be nothing without your sharp wit.............(crickets)...........
I would add you are the one who 'wants' another home, they didn't say it was exclusive to FHB so why don't you go on and build that fat cat portfolio of yours?
The reality is people buy what they can afford and justify, this show (if not a hoax post which I expect) will be a vested interest puff piece. Buy in the boom docks or a 4ft by 4ft shit box and be grateful. They will do it by showing everyone how easy it is, low deposits, family funds, guarantors you know general reckless lending practises to perpetuate another boom cycle.
Sounds like something that would make you quite hard if you merely thought about it let alone watched an episode.

Haha, first time I've enjoyed the banter with you Chris.
I can't afford my dream home, nor would I meet the criteria for the show, and like you I think it'll be a load of BS. If I were to go on it, the emotion they'd get from me would be 'I guess this will do as it's all I can afford' - not really the personality they are looking for.
I agree Chris, they'll be picking people who they know they could squeeze pennies or manipulate to get them into their 'dream home'. Obviously if people are missing out on their dream home, then they can't afford their dream home. So the show will be using practices to either get those people some extra money which will normally be a bit shady, or convince them that they want to move further out and get their 'dream home' elsewhere.
I'm sure we'd all be on board if the show had master property negotiators and analysts who know how to bid at auctions to get a lower winning price, picking the right time and right sellers etc. But I highly doubt that'll be the case.

Great opportunity for most of the "investors" here to get a foot in the market.
You should think about leveraging your mum's garage Trolley.
WHAT WOULD EDDIE DO? MAAAATE! Share a cot with Milton?
