Honestly, I have thought of posting something with the same title on here, but never saw the point. The sentiment, however, would be rather different.
Seriously, what is wrong with you all?
I've been following this forum (once source of info among many) on and off for a couple of years, since emigrating was first on the cards for us.
From what I can see the majority of content on this forum, whatever your personal situation and view of the market, is just sniping back and forth with pointless arguments and off topic personal insults. It's like reading something from a bunch of teenagers on a BBs / usenet in the early 90s. Given the content of most posts you could be arguing over anything, like who the best power ranger/spice girl is, trumping each other to validate your choice, and entirely entrenched in that view.
The are occasional glimpses of some reasoned discussion, in between pages and pages of guff. It's not even trolling for the most part (often a thread with start with some piece of relevant news), but you all seem to 'know' each other and just hurl abuse back and forth for the most part.
Honestly I think you all need to reel your necks in and get some proper moderators on here to slap back all of the off topic bullshit. For a forum with such a high google listing, and a fair number of actual users, the content is constantly derailed into garbage.
The sad part is when there are some proper discussions it's apparent a fair few of you actually have a decent head on your shoulders, interesting and relevant experience, varied views and the ability to offer meaningful insight.
Anyway, this will have about as much impact as a fart on the wind. 2c from a long time lurker though.
Yep, don't give up Simons - Dig deep; Inta ya totally innermost resources - Despite tha fact ya look like a totally f***ed up piece of crap ta everyone else, I's got faith in ya mate ... Ya'll make it! - LOL

Well, I'd personally rate that comment right up there in just maybe the top 1% I've EVER seen on this site?
(Tho asking Alex to be more active as a moderator is just seriously asking a bit too much IMO dude - Like sheesh, seriously, wot even half sane Admin/moderator would want to buy into even a smidgen of the bun fights that occur on this site?)

Coming from being a lurker myself, I understand 100% where you're coming from.
I think that's why there isn't many new members either, they come and realize this forum isn't really a source of information, it's more just an ongoing debate with no end in sight as no one compromises.
I started posting with similar intentions just to be like 'wtf is everyone's problem?', but it doesn't take long from when you start posting to be caught up in the ongoing debates.
I suspect that many of the posters here are a bit like myself: come for the occasional useful tidbit and indulge in some immaturity, whilst keeping most of the sensible discussion for other forums.

APF has always been a no-holds-barred cage match between bulls and bears. That's what makes it fun. There are plenty of other sites for boring sensible debates.
Also, the bulls always win because the bears are mostly just barely-literate youngsters with big chips on their shoulder (Veritas, Simon, Chris etc.).

Alex could probably add other, trustworthy moderators
Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is the Australian property market a pyramid scheme or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices really rise forever? These are the questions we address on Australian Property Forum, the premier real estate site for property bears, bulls, investors, and speculators. Members may also discuss matters related to finance, modern monetary theory (MMT), debt deflation, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, property investing, landlords, tenants, debt consolidation, reverse home equity loans, the housing shortage, negative gearing, capital gains tax, land tax and macro prudential regulation.
