Rates will climb and borrowers should prepare, says Malcolm Turnbull

Quote:

Interest rate are set to rise, not immediately but soon, in the view of Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

Even the Prime Minister knows whats coming.....

Quote:

Speaking at the Melbourne Institute economic outlook conference, Mr Turnbull said his reading of statements from the Reserve Bank was that "rates are more likely to go up than down, clearly".

The Bank's cash rate has been 1.5 per cent since August, a record low.

I especially like this Bit:

Quote:

"Asset prices can move in two directions - down as well as up," Mr Turnbull said.

Ahh....Good Times.....

I certainly hope rates increase, as it will be good economic news. Bring it on!

While it's true that those who win never quit, and those who quit never win, those who never win and never quit are idiots.

The banks call it .....'Harvesting'.

After the 'Apocolypse' the banks end up owning all or most of the RE and then rent it out to make even more money. :wak:

Its called 'fractional reserve banking'.

Deposit $1 and then lend out $10 to every new customer. (Gold backed standard before 1971 from memory).

Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is the Australian property market a pyramid scheme or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices really rise forever? These are the questions we address on Australian Property Forum, the premier real estate site for property bears, bulls, investors, and speculators. Members may also discuss matters related to finance, modern monetary theory (MMT), debt deflation, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, property investing, landlords, tenants, debt consolidation, reverse home equity loans, the housing shortage, negative gearing, capital gains tax, land tax and macro prudential regulation.
