'N who precisely might they be Chris? (In your opinion.) - Just ta specifically calls ya on a bit more of ya apparent innuendo? Woz talkin' ta ole mate recently - Had ta whack his mum inta care wif dementia he did. Cost bein' $450K - Which is pretty much wot she got from tha sale of her home ta pay for it.
Didn't ask where she would've ended up if she'd not had some shitbox SEQ property ta be flogged ta pay for it - But I doubt I'd have enjoyed tha answer if I had asked.
Hmmm - Ya life experience 'n just general understandin' of just pretty much everything in general just seems ta be so extraordinarily limited/narrow/confined Chris?
Its about financial choice really. What's better owning just a PPOR? or owning the PPOR AND plus cash positive owned props to provide dignity in providing in home and out of home care and while the elderly couple can safely remain in their own home with dignity.
What helps the most is genuine intergenerational family support, family member checking on them regularly assisting whenever for stuff.
Estate planning helps.
The challenge for me will be if my mum dies before my dad, he really is dependant on mum for everything, he does not speak much English now, but he is still stubborn, he shuffles but he can still walk ok he is so unsteady and has had some scary falls. So stubborn there is two zimmers gathering dust in their garage.....
I will be there for them just as they have been for me simple as that. Oh and Herbs?
Get some estate planning sorted out if you have not, I have been nagging this BB brother who is single with no kids to make sure if #%^& happens or he is dead that its not all intestate limbo... He had a health scare last year he is going to need a colonoscopy every year to check that overweight tummy of his. He still drinks that crap Coke. *had tons of polyps removed and emergency surgery to remove a cancerous not benign mass* Only symptom was abdominal pains...
If one has $ its important to get stuff in order.... whatever age. I know that although being in my forties I still have more years to come, I and like others don't know what tomorrow brings.
Newjerk? can you try harder than dig up another person's blog. My first promo was with Billabong and my name in English is modified with a T, am Perth born but also lived in Sydney to make my $$ It's Absolutely Fabulous if it includes brilliant locations, & high calibre tenants..what more does one want? Understand the power of the two "P"" or be financially challenged Even better when there is family who are property mad and one is born in some entitlements.....Understand that beautiful women are the exhibitionists we crave attention, whilst hot blooded men are the voyeurs ... A stunning woman can command and takes pleasure in being noticed. Seems not too many understand what it means to hold and own props and get threatened by those who do. Banks are considered to be law abiding and & rather boring places yeah not true . A bank balance sheet will show capital is dwarfed by their liabilities this means when a portions of loans is falling its problems for the bank.

60'll be a big turning point for me Blondie (wif me calculator showin' that bein' 1.25 yrs away ... Not that I's countin' ... ) - So's I can get me fingers inta me super all legit like 'n start reversin' a few stupid mistakes I made wif me finances when I woz younger 'n just focused on workin' a bit hard ta care ta pay quite enough attention ta all tha details on such stuff.
Hmmm - But anyways, on tha off chance I should get any real big hints it just could be 'game over' before then, I's at least attempted ta think thru me backup plans.
'N yep, while I don't have polyposis meself, another close family member does - So I knows tha term.
A Professional Demographer to an amateur demographer:"negative natural increase will never outweigh the positive net migration"
I have no idea why you exaggerated what I said beyond any reasonable interpretation, but it's what you seem to do. I never said banks became minority lenders.
I suggest that you take more care in future and stop creating unnecessary strawman arguments, you end up arguing an imaginary point with yourself, and you still lose the argument.
Bump for Chris.
Take risks - if you win you will become wealthy, if you lose you will become wise
Why do you think home ownership for those between 24-35 yrs has fallen to 33% and expected to fall bellow 30% mark in the 2016 census stats, below the figures recorded since the 1950's?
Why do you think they have tended lower since 2001 when house prices in Sydney first became seriously unaffordable at 10x incomes?
There is no doubt that home ownership will continue to fall, you only need to look at countries in Europe to see what happens when population numbers increase.
The question that you have to ask yourself and the only one that matters is do you want to remain a renter yourself and condemn your children, grandchildren and their grandchildren to become renters or are you giving them a chance to own their own place in a capital city ?
Of course there is always the chance that one of them may get lucky and win lotto to break the rental cycle.

As homeownership rates fall the wealthy will get wealthier as they use their existing equity to increase inventory holdings and capitalize on rising rents.
Poor Chris will continue his waging his impotent online "war" until he dies, his future destroyed by his bad decisions of the past.
My only hope for my three boys is that they turn out nothing at all like Chris.

What doesn't kill just makes one stronger I guess.
Oh and I'm sure no one can say they didn't do dumb stuff.

Houses aren't worthless, they have no value to you if you simply live in them and do nothing else with it, which as has been discussed is the MAJORITY.
By this logic anything and everything is useless the moment you stop using it.
So ya's got some stats wot show home ownership rates go up in depressions has ya Simons?
Home ownership rates generally fall in a depression, the poor have to sell. Some people think it will give them an opportunity to buy, but they generally don't.
Take risks - if you win you will become wealthy, if you lose you will become wise
