Good post! "Information is not knowledge" - that's a key take-away. The other thing I would add is that the internet makes the spread of "mis"-information far more prevelant than in the past.
Gen-y are the first generation to really have their world views shaped by this, will they wise up to it or will it take another generation?

I wanted to get involved in this discussion but I've chosen to stand at a distance, I was quite concerned I might stand in bull jizz that will no doubt spew into the floor if this circle jerk.

You are a sad bunch of people, I'd feel sorry for you but your all so wealthy from property so I know you'all be just fine.

I've been told my range is impressive so that's probably the smartest call you've ever made.

When it's stuck on your head it's much easier to get distance.

I put tha thread up because I know that for someone like myself (namely someone wif a bit of a perfectionist bent 'n a pretty strong desire ta make 'good' financial decisions rather than 'bad' ones - Namely Yes, I DO care about me finances; And who can find meself gettin' into a realm where given half a chance I may well overthink things) who ALSO happens ta just be a pretty naturally risk averse type (ie fundamentally bearish leaning - as in a bit inclined ta be a naturally pessimistic type even, rather than just naturally optimistic type) I'm damn sure it's true of meself - Namely that gettin' bearish reinforcement of me naturally bearish inclinations off tha internet on a daily basis is surely NOT conducive ta me necessarily makin' tha best long term decisions.

For me at least Chris, there came a time in me guts when I KNEW I woz wrong - 'N needed ta DO something. So did.

'N any tripe about bull 'jizz' or bear 'wee wee' or such like, woz ('n remains) irrelevant.

The "Damascus" moment comes to people in their own time, and for some it never comes.

You can't rush it.

Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is the Australian property market a pyramid scheme or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices really rise forever? These are the questions we address on Australian Property Forum, the premier real estate site for property bears, bulls, investors, and speculators. Members may also discuss matters related to finance, modern monetary theory (MMT), debt deflation, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, property investing, landlords, tenants, debt consolidation, reverse home equity loans, the housing shortage, negative gearing, capital gains tax, land tax and macro prudential regulation.

Forum Rules: The main forum may be used to discuss property, politics, economics and finance, precious metals, crypto currency, debt management, generational divides, climate change, sustainability, alternative energy, environmental topics, human rights or social justice issues, and other topics on a case by case basis. Topics unsuitable for the main forum may be discussed in the lounge.
