"The truth is that there are no good men, or bad men. It is the deeds that have goodness or badness in them. There are good deeds, and bad deeds. Men are just men."
“The people can always be brought to the bidding of their leaders. All you have to do is tell them that they are in danger of being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger.” Hermann Goering
WHAT WOULD EDDIE DO? MAAAATE! Share a cot with Milton?
It's disturbing that in Australia, this'd men are Rupert Murdoch, Alan Jones, Ray Hadley etc.
Compared to Bernays? Well, the average suburbanite would know the three stooges you mentioned. If you mentioned Bernays, they would probably think of an exotic spice they saw on Masterchef.

Bernays was probably one of the most influential people of the 20th century, and almost nobody knows who he is.
Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret. Ambrose Bierce
That is extremely uneducated if you, debt is a part of living for most of us. Businesses, individuals and governments rely on it to progress but is that it? Debt has some horrific outcomes for anyone who believes it is without consequence.
You are one of those people, one day we see another 1930 or 1988 and the notion that debt is good will fade again and all those who share your views will be inialated. See shammy It is because of debt the boom bust cycles exist in the first place.
without debt there is no way for a poor man to better his lot. Borrowing to buy a home is a great thing for most people. It is so so much better than being stuck in the rental trap.
You are the one with the poor understanding of debt and it has cost you dearly. Your fear of debt has left you paying rent and you have missed on one of the fastest house price growths for decades. On top of that you have missed the opportunity to hammer down debt with lowest interest rates.
People like Golly who come on here preaching the evils of debt to young people while they own multiple properties themselves are the using people like you to drive their own extremist political agendas.
Seriously Chris how much more do you have to lose before you finally dump the doomsters and their toxic agendas.

Robert Shiller identified a housing bubble and was mocked by media and suburbanites globally. In 2004, Greenyspan said a housing bubble or a “a national severe price distortion was most unlikely.” Bernanke claimed in 2005 that house prices “largely reflect strong economic fundamentals.”
The suburbanites didn't ask why. Exactly the same today.
Straw man Terry - just because some people in the past failed to recognise trouble, does not mean that you have been correct since 2012 with your claims that each and every day since then we are just about to have a massive crash.
The crash spruikers were mostly wrong, most countries did not have crashes and now the global economy is finally heading back into some real growth after years of stagnation.
Yet here you are still harping on that everyone else is wrong and you seriously missed out big time, with your silly fearfulness.

For the bbq set:
"How many men ever went to a barbecue and would let one man take off the table what's intended for nine-tenths of the people to eat? The only way you'll ever be able to feed the balance of the people is to make that man come back and bring back some of that grub that he ain't got no business with!"
- Louisiana Senator Huey P. Long, 1934
Well why don't you start the ball rolling and give a few of your properties to struggling first time buyers.

I think the following better describes the environment of the BBQ set.
“The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. ...We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society. ...In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons...who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind.”
― Edward L. Bernays
If you don't know who Bernays is, best you look him up.
The difference between you and other posters on here is that you have swallowed a pile of doomster bullshit that this situation will change in some dramatic fashion that will allow you to benefit.
The rest of us know how the world works and know it ain't changing any time soon and we look after ourselves and our own. We certainly do not spend our lives selling doomster scenarios to frighten young people out of getting their share of the economic growth that is out there and is available to them.

How they'll treat you in the next depression. Stand up against them, and they'll burn the last of your possessions.
You are ratcheting up the fearmongering today Golly - getting a bit desperate trying to sell Armageddon.
That nonsense has been played to death since the GFC nobody is listening to that crap anymore. Why ? because those who listened have lost out so badly over the last few years in the Eastern States.
Definition of a doom and gloomer from 1993 The last camp is made up of the doom-and-gloomers. Their slogan is "it's the end of the world as we know it". Right now they are convinced that debt is the evil responsible for all our economic woes and must be eliminated at all cost. Many doom-and-gloomers believe that unprecedented debt levels mean that we are on the precipice of a worse crisis than the Great Depression. The doom-and-gloomers hang on the latest series of negative economic data.
