Has the Grattan Institute 'shot its bolt'?; Seems that they just might have begun being reduced to trying to dig up 'loose pocket change' type options these days ...

Shadow - Defrauded his Bank ? 2015 I have 9 different loans and my bank had no idea which ones were personal and which were investment. They had half of them classed incorrectly. When this change came in they asked me to tell them if any personal loans were incorrectly classed as investment, which I did, and they switched them to personal for the lower rate. They also had a couple of investment loans incorrectly classed as personal. They didn't ask me about those. So they stay on the lower rate too. Worked out pretty well. :)
Shadow - 2008 Sydney Median House Price 1.25M by 2014-2015

Shadow : I think this boom has already begun in several cities. My prediction :
Peak of boom: 2014-2015. Sydney Median Price: $1,250,000 Bottom of bust: 2017-2018. Sydney Median Price: $1,100,000

I propose a huge new tax on Think Tanks.

A birthday tax - every year on your birthday you pay a tax, and then we could introduce a dead day tax. Every year on the anniversary of you death your family could pay another tax after you have gone.

We could start our own think tank, we're getting the hang of it now.

I likes tha idea of birthday 'n death day taxes - 'Cause they're so hard ta evade - Like similar ta land tax really; Not much concealin' 'em 'n they just sit there every year like big numpties waitin' ta be taxed - Just like land.

'Tho please do consider tha potential stimulatory effect of me proposed nooky tax - Yunno, all tha jobs generated for tradies puttin' cameras in every joint in tha nation ('n cars 'n parks 'n wot not) ta see who should be payin' tha tax - A bit like Tha Milky Bar Boy's Roof Insulation Scheme No?

PLUS ya'd get all tha ongoing employment for all those little public servants ta sit there 24/7/365 watchin' tha cameras ta see's no-one woz cheatin' on their nooky tax?

I was going to suggest a tax on stupidity, but then I realised that Australians are already the world's biggest gamblers.

Yeah this is just chump change. The budget is likely 40billion in the red again, this financial year.

My personal preference is for this government to spend less money. But that's not likely. Hence why they are looking for chump change savings.

The second choice I would like, is for the country to more closely link reward to your contribution to productivity and this country. One aspect there, is if someone gets a good windfall because their parents are well off, and have died (we all must die), I don't see why they can get all this tax free.

Remember I need to get the shit taxed out of me, for doing productive work. I'm not talking confiscating the wealth, just a much smaller tax in percent terms then I get to pay for busting my arse for this ungrateful country.

Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is the Australian property market a pyramid scheme or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices really rise forever? These are the questions we address on Australian Property Forum, the premier real estate site for property bears, bulls, investors, and speculators. Members may also discuss matters related to finance, modern monetary theory (MMT), debt deflation, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, property investing, landlords, tenants, debt consolidation, reverse home equity loans, the housing shortage, negative gearing, capital gains tax, land tax and macro prudential regulation.

Forum Rules: The main forum may be used to discuss property, politics, economics and finance, precious metals, crypto currency, debt management, generational divides, climate change, sustainability, alternative energy, environmental topics, human rights or social justice issues, and other topics on a case by case basis.
