I probably did say "Industry" which is an all encompassing term. I believe it was you who attempted to narrow the discussion to manufacturing.
The last chart I saw on export earnings showed our service industries earning more than iron ore, but maybe that's changed again with the recent gains in ore prices. But it's not just export industries that are affected. When our dollar is high local industries who supply local markets get beaten on price by goods and services from overseas. That reverses when our dollar falls.
Nope, you said industry, then slide into including services in your argument.
You shouldn't try anything other than housing speculation. Okay?

We actually do manufacture stuff, but in term of traditional car manufacturing or steel fabrication etc not so much. I grew up in a family that had a business manufacturing farm machinery for Rural industries, mainly sugar cane growing, but I don't think there is much left in Australia anymore. Mainly distribution of imported machinery and repairs now.
But we do export. People seem to forget that Cochlear and Blackmores are export success stories in the area of medical and therapeutic goods and services. Wine exports etc, there are many others.
That right. They'd be included in the 900,000 figure I gave before.
I highly doubt you gave a shit before you retired either.
That's just a personal attack ...
But anyway, in reply ta ya personal attack, I gave a shit enuff (about me) ta figure out wot me own little niche 'market' woz in tha mining industry many yrs back - 'N made a half reasonable fist of capitalisin' on it for many yrs too Ta - Wif that bein' why I'm now retired wif 4 debt free dungas plus $850K cash in tha banks.
'N I'm also happy enuff wif how tha youngs in me family seem ta be comin' ta grips wif/positionin' 'emselves ta capitalise on their little places in tha world goin' forward as well at this time Ta ...
Yep I surely did figure out wot me own little niche 'market' woz in tha mining industry many yrs back - 'N made a half reasonable fist of capitalisin' on it for many yrs too Ta - Wif that bein' why I'm now retired wif 4 debt free dungas plus $850K cash in tha banks.
You are a true socialism success story. Union wages, low immigration, industrialising Japan. You should write a book on the secrets of your success.

I know that f***wit, I was giving you an easy way to dodge the question, which you took because you have no answer to the question.
So, let me give you the question again, without an easy out, so we can see you squirm. What exactly are your youngun's producing, that no one else in the world is producing, to exchange for all the manufactured goods they fill their shitty overpriced housing units with?

We will soon see collective action at work.
Trench warfare in the age of the tactical battlefield nuclear weapon will be fascinating.
Mining/ earth moving experience will be a welcome skill.
