I hear that a lot. Top idea for the young who want some work experience that they wouldn't get here, and exposure to different cultures, a chance for some personal development. But I'm a bit worried about the reason you gave. If it was so great elsewhere then why are hundreds of thousands coming here and not staying where they are or going to one of these so called better places.
Not having a go at you, but if it was such a great idea why aren't many people doing it when they decide to settle down and raise a family. What is wrong with the plan?
Why not try addressing what i've written next time in something other than inanity.
You come across to me that if you're not yet actually over 40, you've got to be damn close to it - And that sure as f*** doesn't make you 'young' any more dude ...
But anyway, as to purchasing in Oz, I personally know 3 people who've done it over the last couple of months:
* A rather younger cousin (around your age perhaps?) - A reasonably highish income earner/marriage breakup/start again/blah blah blah who bought a Sydvegas apartment for about a mill
* My 18 yo niece - Who went halvies with her olds in an apartment about 5 clicks from the Brisvegas CBD
* An accountant I know (early 30s maybe?) who's bought in bumf*** out here near me
People are still buying homes dude - And there's no point getting all bitchy and shitty about it just because you think the prices of some of them in some places for some people might be just a bit high.

I care nothing for your anecdotes.
Real world figures show us that the first home buyer Market has tanked over the past several years. It's irrefutable.
Once again, I'm not old.
Don't know why you are so bothered with who I am. I don't give sfa who ya' are ya' bloody 'nonymous lil' laddie

And real politicians and policy makers responses tell us that they don't actually care - Leastways not to the point where they are genuinely driven to do anything much about it.
Because it would just be too genuinely damaging to the economy ... Me 'old' fruit - LOL

I agree, they don't care about the younger generations.
Which is why I suggested anyone with in demand skills gets the fk out of dodge for the next 5-10 years.

I guess we are on the same page.
I can't bring myself to get as worked up over it these days as I might have in the past Doc, given that I just simply can't see any genuinely acceptable solutions. (Tho I would countenance that debt forgiveness one if it came to it - Depending on the details; Despite the fact me old mate Golly [if he'll accept me calling him that?] is obviously VERY strongly opposed to it.)
And as critical of the Powers That Be that I am, my main criticism of them is probably in relation to them not just being rather more frank and coming out and stating that they can't see any genuinely acceptable solutions either.
And as to how individual youngs attempt to work through all this, for some it might involve leaving Oz - But for lots it pretty obviously won't.
Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is the Australian property market a pyramid scheme or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices really rise forever? These are the questions we address on Australian Property Forum, the premier real estate site for property bears, bulls, investors, and speculators. Members may also discuss matters related to finance, modern monetary theory (MMT), debt deflation, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, property investing, landlords, tenants, debt consolidation, reverse home equity loans, the housing shortage, negative gearing, capital gains tax, land tax and macro prudential regulation.
