Generally it is as affordable.

Base your calculations on mortgage repayments as a % of household income and you will find that it's pretty good buying , except for some suburbs in Sydney and Melbourne, and the standard of housing is much much better.

The issue that many have is that as our cities grow and mature the competition for well situated homes and allotments has increased, which increases the price of those assets. On the outskirts however, the prices are good.
Thankfully it's becoming much more affordable.
Whenever you have an argument with someone, there comes a moment where you must ask yourself, whatever your political persuasion, 'am I the Nazi?'

Yeah I've read this article yesterday elsewhere.
The thing is it's about what a minority will do to acheive " scum status" , it's a misleading article coz anywhere, anytime, any social class you'll alwsys get individuals who will do just about anything to have more $$ to their name.

It does not happen just in Perth. It can happen anywhere. The fact is some people will do ANYTHING for money.

Oh and scum status does not occur when people think they can get a short cut up the prop ladder when they don't have enough equity, greed occurs when there's heaps of equity. It's out there alright.

Oh and don't always blame the parents because I'm seeing 1bro who has shown his true colours when some prop freebies transfers which has been allocated to his name and he didn't have the balls to tell any of us ( parents and siblings)he was selling this gifted property.
Stuff happens in different ways.

In conclusion.. One should help their offspring but there's no guarantees how stuff turns out coz they can be corrupted by others or they themselves can be devious snakes.

Newjerk? can you try harder than dig up another person's blog. My first promo was with Billabong and my name in English is modified with a T, am Perth born but also lived in Sydney to make my $$
It's Absolutely Fabulous if it includes brilliant locations, & high calibre tenants..what more does one want? Understand the power of the two "P"" or be financially challenged
Even better when there is family who are property mad and one is born in some entitlements.....Understand that beautiful women are the exhibitionists we crave attention, whilst hot blooded men are the voyeurs ... A stunning woman can command and takes pleasure in being noticed. Seems not too many understand what it means to hold and own props and get threatened by those who do.
Banks are considered to be law abiding and & rather boring places yeah not true . A bank balance sheet will show capital is dwarfed by their liabilities this means when a portions of loans is falling its problems for the bank.

I do not need to win an argument about housing being as affordable as it was in the past.

Only the deluded think that and I would prefer to remain sane.

Really, your post gave me a good laugh as it is clear that a vested interested, like a mortgage broker, would in fact be in denial and quite deluded. Probably more of a chuckle...
I said mortgage repayments as a % of household income, you looked at everything but the measure that I quoted.

You will have to do better than that Pauk.

Yes, I agree, greed drives many of all ages. To me the underlying issue is affordability housing driving this, although I am sure throughout history, the aged have been taken advantage of.

Oh and of course this chart does not take into account the double income to support the mortgage...

Paul, that's an aggregate of existing mortgages repayments expressed as a % of household income. In any case it's well below 1989 when interest rates were very high, especially since interest rates have dropped further since 2013. An up to date chart of that graph would help explain some of my point, but not all.

What I meant was buyers right now will be committing to a % of their income in mortgage payments when they buy a house, and that % is about the long term average.

If I had the time I would find a chart for you. Essentially when repayments are about or below the cost of renting, people buy.

So, you can not find a chart on you also rely on double incomes. Right?

Scott M just stated in parliament now.....
1981 to 2011 the average median mortgage as a % of household income for under 45's , has doubled!
In 1981, 1 in 2 single workers were able to get a mortgage, now 1 in 5 single workers.

Good on the Libs for blowing the wind out of your bullshit!

Affordability?
It's no excuse Paul.
No matter the socioeconomic status.

If there's adult offspring who are too impatient for their self entitlement regardless of whether they have props in their name or not , they are selfish greedy scum.

There's no excuse.

Some people just seem to only be out for themselves.
