Another Phd affichinado putting out fairytales and misinformation. Claims Chinese FI makes up a mere 2% of the $270b of all homes sold on 2014, that's roughly a pissy $5.5b. Not much in the grand scheme of things until you consider the governments own figures were around $12b in the same period and this genius has only included sales that have been registered with and approved by the FIRB.

The Doc didn't think it necessary to look at all sales by foreign nations, maybe start with the developments constructed by foreign investors and sold to Chinese investors. He could even run his eyes over Ms Lui's thesis where she nominated foreign developments that have sold between 80-90% to foreign owners and research how many of those properties have been given the tick of approval by the FIRB.

Shocking that vested interest articles are becoming the modern day version of journalism, should have an advertisement warning on it.

From my personal experience it has been Asia vs. India to see who can own more of Australia lately.

I haven't bought a newspaper in 20 years. Actually that's not true, I did buy two copies of the saturday rag 10 years ago when I experimented spray painting an old XY falcon replica GTHO. There is really no substitute for newpapers there.

Personally I think the media in this nation has been serving the vested interests going back to federation. I heard of some guys who setup their own little newspaper servicing Beenleigh south of brisbane a decade of so back. They came under immence pressure and eventually closed it down. The media here is strictly controlled.

I don't recall ever having bought a newspaper for myself in my almost 57 years upon this planet.

I'm not and never have been a big consumer of crud generally I guess?

And I like it that way.

Yes but this doesn't negate the effects such publications have on the wider community and the subsequent effects their decisions will eventually have on you, either directly or indirectly.

Here's one the doc should have read before putting his name to a puff piece and cheapening his credentials.

Well *I* haven't read a newspaper or a book or a periodical in years, and I sic my dog on the postman so that he doesn't leave me any mail. And don't even get me started about that internet, which of course I ignore also...

My opinion is isolated, and pure, and completely uninformed by anyone who might have an opinion contrary to mine...

Vietnam?

Not me Golly.

I'm a boring old homebody who doesn't much enjoy travel these days.

Would be quite happy to never see another airport in my life again as it happens.

Except to pick up or drop off others who might be a bit more travel inclined maybe.

But never say never as they say.

Well, about MOST things anyway ... :)

That seems a shame to me?

I quite enjoy reading: "Power Without Glory", "War and Peace" and other such stuff.

And the internet.

But don't have a dog. (Though will probably dig myself a pond one day and pop some fish in it.)

Haven't owned a functioning TV for many years either.

Was given a mobile phone a while back by someone who thought it might be handy for me to have one.

But haven't activated it as I really don't either need nor want one.

Never have.

But each to their own/as their own circumstances dictate I suppose.

That explains it all. The last piece of the bogan puzzle falls into place. What a classic sap he is. Thanks for the laugh Golly. :lol

Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is the Australian property market a pyramid scheme or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices really rise forever? These are the questions we address on Australian Property Forum, the premier real estate site for property bears, bulls, investors, and speculators. Members may also discuss matters related to finance, modern monetary theory (MMT), debt deflation, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, property investing, landlords, tenants, debt consolidation, reverse home equity loans, the housing shortage, negative gearing, capital gains tax, land tax and macro prudential regulation.

Forum Rules: The main forum may be used to discuss property, politics, economics and finance, precious metals, crypto currency, debt management, generational divides, climate change, sustainability, alternative energy, environmental topics, human rights or social justice issues, and other topics on a case by case basis. Topics unsuitable for the main forum may be discussed in the lounge.
