Old and proud cultures?

Japan - Google Sarin Gas Attack

Pakistan - Google Schoolchildren Murder

Norway - Google Anders Behring Breivik
Japan - third lowest homicide rate in the world and one or two isolated incidents do not add up to organized terrorism. Doh!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate

http://www.businessinsider.com.au/why-japans-murder-rate-is-so-low-2014-4

Note, not all Muslims are terrorists, however it does seem all terrorists are Muslim currently.

So you think that the Irish and English who first settled in Australia were culturally the same?
Are you even white?

Look at the movement of the Irish into Scotland in the 1800's. The ructions still exist.

The Irish, English, Welsh and Scots were not the same culture. And therefore a multi-culture.
Not to mention the Chinese & various Europeans. Read the Eureka Stockade by Raffaello Carboni and take note of the surnames in the book.

Can someone please tell me when this egalitarian and altruistic Australia existed?

This countries first 200-odd years history after white settlement is rich white men stealing from the white poor. The mateship and fair go myth is propagated for the proles.

Hence the song 'waltzing matilda ', which is about land theft, police corruption, and deaths in custody.

Yep, and of course Ned Kelly was English wasn't he?

That's why he got along so well with the landed gentry of the time.

Any expressed market opinion is my own and is not to be taken as financial advice

Well I've come down firmly in the camp that says high immigration is both necessary and wonderful - Compared to the alternative.
Whilst bearing in mind that we need to minimise those getting in who have any sort of terrorist tendencies.

Hmmm - Now that wasn't hard.
Ta to all what contributed to making it easy ... :re:

Damn - Talk about The Lucky Country eh?

Like we can just put any sort of major shit off by simply running with high immigration 'til 2100 ... Like how sweet a deal is that!

Personally would have thought it could get rather fragile (what with all our high payouts on welfare 'n all) by 2065/2075 when our minerals start ta get a bit depleted?

But maybe not? Maybe we'll have learned ta live within our means by then? Or gotten more productive? Or simply gotten Lucky in some as yet other unforeseen way again by then?

I would imagine that the first Australians would have given up on this notion within a week of the new Australians getting in.

Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is the Australian property market a pyramid scheme or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices really rise forever? These are the questions we address on Australian Property Forum, the premier real estate site for property bears, bulls, investors, and speculators. Members may also discuss matters related to finance, modern monetary theory (MMT), debt deflation, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, property investing, landlords, tenants, debt consolidation, reverse home equity loans, the housing shortage, negative gearing, capital gains tax, land tax and macro prudential regulation.

Forum Rules: The main forum may be used to discuss property, politics, economics and finance, precious metals, crypto currency, debt management, generational divides, climate change, sustainability, alternative energy, environmental topics, human rights or social justice issues, and other topics on a case by case basis. Topics unsuitable for the main forum may be discussed in the lounge.
