Actually the returns were very high! But nobody could work out what the risk was so they still wouldn't lend.
Not the return on short term roll over capital which was what it was all about and the high return end became ponzi.
The next trick of our glorious banks will be to charge us a fee for using net bank!!!
You are no longer customer, you are property!!!

Umm.... overnight rates hit about 6%.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Umm.... overnight rates hit about 6%.
They devalue currency at least 5% pa, 6% is line ball. The FED ran O/N rates too low in the 90's. Followed by 1% after the 2001 crash.

You think you are giving the suckers a good deal at 6% short term. I repeat again you think that is a really good deal? In the fullness of time they are better off buying gold and telling you to go to hell!

In real terms less than 6% is losing money let alone there is some risk connected with that.

The O/N rates rose because the reality caught up with the market. Nothing really appeared out of the blue, it had all been in the works a long time.

OK. In your little world it is low.

In everyone else's world, the Libor spread was the highest it has ever been.

The spread is only a symptom of something years in the making. It all came about of the FED's life time practice of running O/N rates too low.

No good playing Ripely in the last moment and saying you've turned the cooling plants back on when it is already too late.

Alas, only masterful occidentals can under historical dynamism! :re:

You got a market used to cheap O/N rates which allowed years of poor practice. And you had the creditors saying....See ya!

If it goes up uncle mustapha, when the price of gas globally is below $5 per GJ, then you know big interests are manipulating the domestic market.

There is so much surplus oil & gas gas now on the market it's become a fucking joke.

Only complete ignorant goofballs in WA would pay more for gas now.

Were starting to vent/ burn off excess inventory cause we can't store it and there are no fucking buyers out there.

Reality check:

yes but you know there is a shortage, right??

But if you pay more you can get as much as you want.

I remember i went into a farm supplies shop about 5 years ago when grain prices where very high.

I needed some Glysophate.

I was told the price had gone up as there was a fire in a chemical plant in China.

I started laughing.

The owner asked me with a puzzled look on his face what was the matter?/

I said but if i pay more in can get it right??

He said yes as he had had to pay more.

The fire only burnt the cheaper bottles of Glysophate i asked?.

He sort of was lost for words.

What can you do dumb monkeys all the way down..

Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is the Australian property market a pyramid scheme or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices really rise forever? These are the questions we address on Australian Property Forum, the premier real estate site for property bears, bulls, investors, and speculators. Members may also discuss matters related to finance, modern monetary theory (MMT), debt deflation, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, property investing, landlords, tenants, debt consolidation, reverse home equity loans, the housing shortage, negative gearing, capital gains tax, land tax and macro prudential regulation.
