You think Russians/Russian backed and supported pro-Russian separatists captured Ukranian weapons and used them to accidentally kill hundreds of innocent holiday travellers, including 10's of Australians, and you think Abbot should apologise to Putin for accusing him of supporting those responsible, including supplying the missle and launcher, when Putin actually only supported the capturing and use of the weapons, rather than actually paying for them.
Maybe they've decided Europe is so deeply in a hole it mightn't be a real bad idea if they rethink Putin's 2010 suggestion he just could consider joining the Eurozone someday - So that the Germans aren't the only ones stuck with carrying the rest??? :
"Vladimir Putin said it is "quite possible" that Russia will one day join the eurozone and create a currency that would eclipse the US dollar as the global reserve standard."
Though one can understand the Americans not being keen given the 'unfortunate' manner in which he phrased his comment ...
But anyway, yeah, who's to really know whose vested interests are what in this world? Not to me it doesn't; As it was the situation I'd always judged most likely. But I would have thought that to some others, the answer might be "Oh yeah!" ?
Russia joining the EU is its only real option over the long term.
Russia is a declining power of less then 200 million people. It has China to its east, a new superpower in the making with 1.3 billion people. India to its south with 1.2 billion people another future superpower about 15-20 years behind China. These will be direct challenges to Russia over time and will rest control over the central Asian republics from Russia orbit as Russia will lack the economic power to keep them.
Russia in the EU would exert huge influence as it would be the EU's largest nation in terms of size and population, a reason the Germans in the past did not want them in. However that is changing due to trade issues.
Russia long term survival is at stake and its only real option along with Europe is to join together to be competitive against the other 3 large players of this century, USA, China and India.
The only other option Russia can play is to ignite a large war and go and conquer what it needs, which is most of the former Soviet Union. Even then it will still be an economic backwards state unable to compete again the other large powers. Just millions might die in the process of learning this.
Your simplistic childish desire to place words in my mouth?
Your simplistic childish desire to see good and bad/white and black?
Your simplistic childish desire to believe American bullshit over Russian bullshit?
Your simplistic childish desire to get all cranked up over Abbott's totally nonsensical use of the word "murder" within this context?
Read the link. Plus lots of other shit about the situation. And the history behind it. And about 'our' pollies and 'their' polies - And get an appreciation for why pretty much ALL pollies are pieces of crap. And you might start to get some understanding.
But you won't. Because you want simplistic childish black and white answers. So you won't ... And will continue to lick up whatever crap is placed under your nose - And say Yum, yum.
Hmmm - It's an interesting thought that I'm starting to incline towards - That human kind within a democracy never can really get any smarter than our average IQ of 100 overall dictates (or some such drag 'em all back to the mean type approach) - With that just not being good enough to continue really powering forward perhaps???

It must make you feel good about yourself to know that anybody who doesn't share your opinion is a moron.
But some things are actually simple... not the inner workings of the mind of a nutter though... as we can all see.

It gives me cause to think that sitting somewhere out in the diglies in the gumtrees very, very far away from you could be a rather sensible decision I might make going forward.

The one international leader who has emerged from the MH17 debacle as credible and deserving of respect up until this point (IMO) - At least until he doesn't(?) - Is the Malaysian PM.

Is that right?
No, it's not right. When did Putin ever say he supported those responsible? Where is the proof that Russia supplied the missile and launcher? Aren't the Germans saying that the launcher and missiles were stolen from the Ukrainians? How the F do you get Russia supplied the missile and launcher from that?
Those are your mistakes of commission you have also made a multitude of mistakes by omission. Try asking who was behind the coup in Ukraine and what their objectives for this provocation are. Why shouldn't Russians be concerned about who is setting up camp on their borders? And question their motives for doing so?
Because of your naivete I'm guessing you are quite young and trusting. You need to get some cynicism and a clue about propaganda. Stop drinking everything Uncle Rupert passes to you and start asking some questions. To have the leader of this nation calling another nations leader a murderer with absolutely zero evidence is a great shame on this country.
