Wash your hands, use an alcho hand wash and you'll have no problems.

Good idea Zaph. I am going to buy a years supply tonight. If it hits big, this stuff will sell out immediately and there will be such a demand for it you may not be able to get it for months.

Yep, I reckon its all part of the keep them in fear campaign.
It does seem prevalent enough so far to make a case for droplet spread in confined areas. I just don't know enough about it and certainly don't want it. I don't consider myself a paranoid doomer but I do tend to keep at least 30+ days worth of non perishable food in my place. It's more a case of buying in bulk for specials than being prepared for anything I think might happen. That could range from being too lazy to shop on a regular basis, an injury that prevented easy shopping trips, terror lockdown or ebola outbreak etc.

Stockpiling basic life essentials is not actually a bad idea, not that I do it though.
I was living in Jakarta when Suharto was overthrown during a major social disruption. The situation turned bad quite rapidly, that quick that we were all of a sudden left with the money, fuel, food, water, toilet paper, medicine, booze and batteries that we had which wasn't much. The banks stopped and all stores were either looted or out of goods and going out on the streets was a definite no no, especially for westerners. Lots of people were being murdered and there was no law and order on the streets .
The streets were ruled by a type of instantly formed militia led by radicals. The cops and army were monitoring things from helicopters only. The militia were identifying which houses should be raided. We just kept our heads down and thanked our lucky stars that we hadn't made any enemies on our street given we were expats and therefore foreigners. I felt sorry for our neighbor a Chinese family, the Chinese were being viciously targeted during the riots, they were really shitting themselves in case someone came knocking, we gave them some of our precious and scarce water.
The lesson for me here is make sure that you don't make any enemies on your street, especially is they are members of the majority because if normal law and order breaks down the mob will take out swift revenge on you if they have a previous gripe with you and no one is going to come and prevent it.
At least if you contract Ebola the mob will leave you alone.

The most common disruptive events have very short lifespans. I remember Perth during the 70's oil crisis and we had a two week spell of no fuel. The roads were completely empty. Anyone who had a jerry can of juice in the shed was unaffected.
There was a similar event when I was in Devon in England about ten years ago. A strike by tanker drivers led to empty supermarket shelves within 48 hours.
As a result, my personal survival plan is to never let my fuel gauge go below 1/2 a tank and to have around a weeks worth of food in the cupboard (baked beans mainly). Living day to day is a dangerous thing because at some point in your life there will be a very survivable event (cyclone, general strike whatever) that will give you grief if you have nothing in reserve.
That said, I laugh at those national geographic shows about survivalists building invisible tree houses and laying mines around their bug out boundaries. I wouldn't want to live in that kind of world.
I do own some gold though (about 100 oz).
As for Ebola, I am not worried about that particular virus. I am worried by the response (or total lack of). Ebola is deadly but not that contagious but what if we were faced with a super flu virus? By the time our governments decided to respond it would be too late.
World War Z is not a zombie film. It is a story about how quickly a virulent virus could spread if action isn't taken quickly.
Hopefully Ebola will be a lesson learned.
Matthew, 30 Jan 2016, 09:21 AM Your simplistic view is so flawed it is not worth debating. The current oversupply will be swallowed in 12 months. By the time dumb shits like you realise this prices will already be rising.

Yes that emergency was fairly short just over a week for the real scary bit for memory. By then their currency was devalued by 1200% against the US $ and there was literally plane loads of US currency flying out by the hour. It got safe enough that we were venturing out in the morning between morning prayers and buying up real antique furniture at a massive discount with US$ cash I got two container loads.
Guys, come on, Ebola is aerosolized. It can pass through tiny droplets eg if someone sneezes or coughs on you or you share the same drink etc. Doctors and nurses wearing protective clothing are catching it. It is as easy to catch as the common cold. It has a 3 week incubation period. Current screening at airports is virtually non existent and will not stop it. Are you seriously not worried?
