Whatever the breach in the standards of infection control that supposedly happenned..it's easy to assume .

What I did notice in the thread was the need for the infected patient requiring dialysis & airway ventilation support, all this involves the health workers to be in close contact with bodily fluids. Those rubber gloves that you see nurses wearing won't be much protection in a needle stick injury ..All that dialysis involves blood being filtered in those machines...more bodily fluids.

Must be a nasty bug for it to cause the human organs to shut down like lungs & kidneys.

For an infected person to have airway ventilation support their lung function would be stuffed for dialysis to be needed there must be renal failure happening..

Just another thing..
This is new stuff, how well does one establish that the vaccine has no serious side effects? :bl:
Damned if you do
Damned if you don't.

Newjerk? can you try harder than dig up another person's blog. My first promo was with Billabong and my name in English is modified with a T, am Perth born but also lived in Sydney to make my $$
It's Absolutely Fabulous if it includes brilliant locations, & high calibre tenants..what more does one want? Understand the power of the two "P"" or be financially challenged
Even better when there is family who are property mad and one is born in some entitlements.....Understand that beautiful women are the exhibitionists we crave attention, whilst hot blooded men are the voyeurs ... A stunning woman can command and takes pleasure in being noticed. Seems not too many understand what it means to hold and own props and get threatened by those who do.
Banks are considered to be law abiding and & rather boring places yeah not true . A bank balance sheet will show capital is dwarfed by their liabilities this means when a portions of loans is falling its problems for the bank.

We've got 60 days to save the world

THE countdown is officially on.

The UN has warned the world has just 60 days to get Ebola under control, or face an “unprecedented situation for which we don’t have a plan”.

A new report issued by the organisation’s health arm, the World Health Organisation, says the virus “is running faster than us and it is winning the race” as it sweeps West Africa and has begun to make its way across the globe.

Speaking at the UN Security Council yesterday, the UN’s deputy Ebola co-ordinator Anthony Banbury outlined critical goals for the December deadline.

“The WHO advises within 60 days we must ensure 70 per cent of infected people are in a care facility and 70 per cent of burials are done without causing further infection,” he said.

It’s the first time the UN has created a mission in response to a public health crisis, warning the goals must be completed or “a lot more people will die”.

Banbury said he was “deeply, deeply concerned” that all of the efforts so far won’t be enough to stop the outbreak.

The warning comes as the number of cases of Ebola has hit the 9000 mark, the deadly virus killing more than half it has affected.

Depends what team you are on, the world will be just fine.

no, it's doesn't. How many times do doctors need to point this out for you to listen?
This is the doctors kitted up to nbcd standards who keep infecting themselves?

The doctors on the CDC who put infected people on commercial jets?

Hmmmmm!

All of the people infected had close contact with infected people. If you don't use the protective clothing properly it won't help.

Get a grip on your paranoia, swine flu killed 500,000 people, did you hide in a bunker for the whole time that was sweeping the world?

Problem is, the virus changes its transmissibility characteristics when it enters the modern health care setting. We may inadvertantly aerosolise it in the course of offering intensive care.

The Ebola patient on a mechanical ventilator has a gas mixture pushed into their lungs under pressure. A disconnection of the ventilator circuit results in a depressurization of the patient's lung volume into the immediate environment, with expulsion of aerosol - like coughing but with a special Ebola-spreading nozzle attachment. Furthermore, unless exotic equipment is available the poor doctor who puts that tube into the Ebola patient ends up looking right down their airway while intubating them, exposing them to a facefull of virus. Then, the body fluid handling - don't get me started; accessing their central veins and arteries is a bloody process given that their blood refuses to clot and any minor wound end up oozing for hours.

And then, after you are coated in contaminated material, you have to disrobe in a particular manner, ensuring you never touch the outside of your garment. That is something that takes a bit of practice, and most ICU nurses have never been inside a self-contained breathing apparatus or a powered air-purifying respirator. And even if you have the technique completely perfected, repetition fatigue sets in and people become complacent after going in and out of that room seventy times in one twelve hour shift. So, transmission will eventually occur. Thankfully dry human skin is a reasonably good barrier, and non-fluid-sloshing casual skin contact carries a very low risk of transmission. Additionally, the virus particles themselves are rather fragile and do not survive prolonged exposure to surfaces; only grossly blood-encrusted objects seem to pose a delayed infection risk. Microbiology weirdos will get a kick out of this article: (http://jid.oxfordjournals.org/content/196/Supplement_2/S142.full.pdf).

FFS has globalisation driven everyone insane? People in the past use to understand quarantine but today's globalist insists that the disease will spread quicker if the host countries are quarantined. It's a weak argument and doesn't make sense and the people aren't buying it.

And what's the deal with Labor wanting to send Australians to Africa to help without a plan if things go wrong. Just bring em back to OZ and put the whole nation at risk. F bleeding heart socialist Fwits.
