But small business is risky at best, and in the hands of the inexperienced a recipe for potential disaster.
Yeh, well, in this country you gotta hire drongos and pay em 20 bucks an hour to dick around on their phones all day instead of doin their job.
best small businesses i,ve seen have been family owned by recent immigrants ... they work hard, put their kids through school, lawyering and doctoring, and then sell the business to some dummy who goes and hires a buncha drongos and goes broke !
Hahahahahahaha. All these comments are a great laugh.
Whole lot of you keyboard warriors who think they have any idea how much $$ I owe to the bank, and automatically assume I have my parents as Guarantors... That bit really mad me laugh!
I won't even justify any of your comments with answers.
Good luck to you all, and keep hacking at those keyboards

Let's guess then.
Like so many savvy ' investors' these days, you have put down around 3% deposit, owe about 4 million and flip burgers at maccas using your parents house as the guinea pig. Did I mention Interest only loans

It is all a bit of fun. The debate is just a bit vigorous and people defend their corners. Stay awhile there are some great debates on here, you just gotta give as good as ya get.
There is a touch of the green eyed monster and also there are still a lot of folk who are scarred by price drops from 2007. Some people actually sold good Sydney homes at the bottom of the market thinking they were going to buy it back 40% cheaper a few months later. These people are just in shock to see young people back in the market and making a bit of money for themselves.
Definition of a doom and gloomer from 1993 The last camp is made up of the doom-and-gloomers. Their slogan is "it's the end of the world as we know it". Right now they are convinced that debt is the evil responsible for all our economic woes and must be eliminated at all cost. Many doom-and-gloomers believe that unprecedented debt levels mean that we are on the precipice of a worse crisis than the Great Depression. The doom-and-gloomers hang on the latest series of negative economic data.

It's all just a bit sad really. Soon there will be tears. Why they feel the need to go in the papers I will never know. Sad, very sad.
Whenever you have an argument with someone, there comes a moment where you must ask yourself, whatever your political persuasion, 'am I the Nazi?'
In his mind mike is still living in 2006, back when the wheels on our economy were spinning madly. Poor mike had his tv turned off when they announced the gfc, the collapse in house prices, the runup to 9% rates and the wind down of retail construction and mining.
It truly amazes me that bulls pretend all that never happened, that it's normal for an advanced economy like ours to fall on its face, get up with multiple injuries and walk on as before. Our economy is running on vapors basically, this is the new normal, and the bulls believe one aspect is not effected. Residential property, the single biggest component of the Australian economy.
There is a simple reason property has not crashed. It is being supported at all cost by government and the banking sector. For the simple reason that when it goes down it will take the rest of the economy with it.
It will go down. It's just a matter of time.
While many people would agree that it will be terribly painful when the property ponzi in Aus 'goes down', I think it will actually be far more painful if it doesn't go down. Things are moronic enough in this country already, imagine if all we did was build houses and sell them to each other?

Did love that! Who is this?
Whenever you have an argument with someone, there comes a moment where you must ask yourself, whatever your political persuasion, 'am I the Nazi?'
Who apparently has no idea... Leveraged to the hilt, and mummy and daddys property is days away from being foreclosed..
If you and the circumstances you present are in fact real then you are the saddest example of manipulative bullshit I have ever seen. At 22 you say your current wage gross is $40k. I would presume this is the highest amount you have ever earnt pa because in most circumstances from 18 our annual income is ascending.
After tax you are earning about 34k on your BEST year, and yet you apparently added $65k deposits to three properties from the beginning. So let's presume you earned the 40k gross over the last 3 yrs then you area saying nearly 2/3 of your income has gone to repayments and you've managed to do that and live an adult life at the same time e.g. Rent, but food, car, furniture, insurance?!!
I highly fucking doubt it...........
Don't serve us bullshit and expect us to say yum, you are either are liar or you are giving half truths, either way it just looks and sounds off.
