Looks like pandering to the sociopathic portion of gen y to me 'but I want a golden goose daddy, I want one now' ok Paddy ...
... He appears to me to be a part of the generation that believes they are unique, special and have never experienced adversity because no one would let them.
I pity you that you think this sort of pandering is normal and healthy ...
Well, you're entitled to your opinion about the efficacy or otherwise on the members of strong multigenerational families choosing to help each other out going forward Chris ... Tho' with mine differing to yours on it pretty obviously - With me being inclined to think that if he has olds who reckon he's worth giving a help along, he just mustn't be doing everything wrong. (Plus him being a bit fortunate that they can of course; Given that lots such olds pissed pretty much everything up against the wall/squandered their opportunities anyway just maybe?)
But anyway, regardless, for mine, beating up on the kid's entire generation because you don't like the way his family chooses to operate, sounds extraordinarily iffy to me. (And I say same irrespective of what asset class and/or classes they might or might not have chosen in their collective wisdom or lack thereof, to take a punt on.)
Ravens wood however is presently above is median in 2007. The median in 2007 was $415,000 is is now $446,500 but is volatile due to the small number of properties It has.
I find it hard to believe that some one paid $550k for just land in Ravenswood, middle of nowhere. Now you are telling us that the House and Land is worth less then just the block of land.
It's a big lifestyle block. I don't know why you are referring to the canals?. They are not in Ravenswood. He works for Alcoa so not the middle of nowhere for everybody.
Ravenswood and Greenfields are tanking at the moment. I am thinking of buying a place down there as a weekender or holiday let. Cheap as chips.
Matthew, 30 Jan 2016, 09:21 AM Your simplistic view is so flawed it is not worth debating. The current oversupply will be swallowed in 12 months. By the time dumb shits like you realise this prices will already be rising.

I see nothing wrong with giving your kids a hand. But why are some people ashamed of the fact? I intend to help my kids as much as I can, and I'd hope they would be proud they have a supporting family.
Even parents going guarantee is helpful. Taking your children's risk onboard can be a smart move, as long as you are careful.
I am a bit sick of the old 'we did it all ourselves' gloating from people when they clearly didn't. I don't know why some people are ashamed of their parents. Does having good parents make them weak? Maybe it doesn't make such a good story? But what does that say about us.
Whenever you have an argument with someone, there comes a moment where you must ask yourself, whatever your political persuasion, 'am I the Nazi?'

Ravenswood grew 10% and Greenfields by 9.7% according to Reiwa. Neither suburb is tanking. However, they are good prices, no one could ever say there is not affordable housing in WA. Some of the houses there you could not build for the sale price and the large 700sqm block comes for free.
Definition of a doom and gloomer from 1993 The last camp is made up of the doom-and-gloomers. Their slogan is "it's the end of the world as we know it". Right now they are convinced that debt is the evil responsible for all our economic woes and must be eliminated at all cost. Many doom-and-gloomers believe that unprecedented debt levels mean that we are on the precipice of a worse crisis than the Great Depression. The doom-and-gloomers hang on the latest series of negative economic data.

Greenfields is tanking. I have been watching it for years with a view to buying a riverside property as a weekender. I looked at two today that have both been reduced and I may be putting in an offer (got a couple more to look at first).

Yes, my parents have helped me.
To this extent though: Let me live with them, only paying a modest amount of board.
That is it. I buy my own clothes, pay for 90% of my food, purchase and maintain my own car, pay my own bills.
They have NEVER contributed to a deposit, gone as a guarantee for a mortgage, or anything as such!
I am very very very grateful for everything my parents have given me, as one of 5 kids I have been lucky to be given what I have. I am not ashamed to say anything about my family.
I most certainly am not weak.
I have achieved what I have, by myself.
And I tell you what Chris, whoever you are, I cannot wait to prove you wrong. I am now more determined than ever to set myself goals and achieve them, and leave pathetic negative people like you behind. Get out of my thread mate. Because you are so far off the mark, it's really making you look bad.

I saying as a comparison you could buy a canal block, not that Ravenswood's has then.
A large block of land makes all the difference in price, I imagine for that price we are talking over 1000sqm for 2007 or close to it.
Greenfields is a rough area of Mandurah, getting better over time.

Here is an example
My brother built a 4x2 in Greenfield for under $300k in 2011.
Prices have certainly moved up since then and by a good margin. Your example of one property is not indicative of the market for the entire suburb as RP data and other indices show. Perhaps you have found a bargain.

You've completely missed my point and made it at the same time.
1. My issue was with him stomping his foot like a baby demanding an article that was freely available be taken down, then using threatening language to AB if he refused. It's self entitled and wreaks of a person who has the resilience of a wet tissue. His Gen is notorious for never being able to feel like a failure at anything and if anyone critics is then they are demonised. E.g. My sociopath comment, it is valid.
2. I do not begrudge anyone who gets a lift up from the olds, my family would do it hit me If I asked. My issue was with him attempting to allude to the fact he did this with him and his partner with no help from anyone in the last 3 yrs. it's clear this is not the case and therefore makes a mockery of the original article.

That's the spirit. Don't let the negativity drag you down. Concentrate on doing what you do do, better.

The worst bit of all this is, I have no idea who you are, what you have etc.
You have the upper hand in this discussion as you have all my information. Therefore can attack at will.
Im not stomping my feet, I just don't appreciate the sort of stuff that is being said on a public forum. Say it to my face, in emails whatever, I don't care. Just not all over the WWW for everyone and anyone to see.
