Yes I do spend a bit of time blogging that's for sure, but I see others here and at MB blogging all day, but hey that's their business. I don't see how that affects what I am doing or have done in the past.

Paul divide the number by the years that the generation covered and you will find that the boomers are not as large as the following generation or it's about the same.

We have gone through this before and when we did the math you had to agree with me - do you want to do the numbers again?

Please stop making up your facts.
Once again, do you understand demographic momentum, or increased longevity?
Done the numbers just recently and you are incorrect.

oh, and I have not seen your blog. You comment in forums, that is not blogging.

Paul the time period for Gen X and Y were each 15 years, but for some reason the demographers at the time chose 19 years for the boomers. I don't know why, maybe it was WW2 or the change in music, or maybe it was the dope - who knows, but the facts are:-

Boomers 5,300,000 over 19 years = 278,947 people

Gen X 4,400,000 over 15 years = 293,333 people

Gen Y 4,2000,000 over 15 years = 280,000 people

If demographers had made the boomer years a 15 year period and Gen X 19 years you would now be screaming about the coming Gen X agequake.

Do you understand the maths, we have done them before and every time you get proven wrong. It's not a lie, get out your calculator and the math for yourself.

The government isn't interested in immigrants of the boomers age unless they are very wealthy, so as time goes on and more immigrants swell the numbers of Gen x and Gen Y they will grow even more. Do you understand this???

Oh shit Paul, count the years on your fingers and toes. The time frame is "inclusive" of the years not "between" the years.

OK fair enough, lets not concern ourselves with that.

Demographers like to call generations by names to define them, but the changes are gradual and rolling. Is there really any difference between a young boomer and an old Gen X - seriously I doubt it. people don't join tribes based solely on their age bracket.

So what we are looking at is a demographic that is larger than the previous demographic, but similar to the following demographics based on size.

The generations that preceded the boomers were smaller. They established an worker/dependant ratio that worked quite well for them and they paid an aged pension.

When the boomers all entered the workforce that ratio changed, but now it's going to change back but not as low as it was in the pre WW2 days because women have entered the workforce en-masse since then. What effect do you think millions more workers (women) might have on the ratio?

So all this panic about agequake you have been lying awake at night over is a waste of energy - it's quite a flawed theory.

I don't know the exact outcome, I don't have the research capability, but when I look at the hysteria I se on some sites, it just doesn't sound logical, and it simply isn't.

I'm not saying that there won't need to be adjustments, but some of the conversations and OP's on this subject have just been way off the mark and quite silly.

If the pre WW2 generations can do it and make sure that everyone was looked after in a much more austere period of time, then we shouldn't have an issue.
