Ok Paul
I've taken time to phone & query with my mum a few things..

My parents receive NO pension they are self funded retirees.
Retired early in 1984 but he worked on property, as some wealthy workaholics do when they retire they can't stop using their brain & hands & don't want to be brain dead.

In 2010, STOL (Simple Transfer of Lands) were prepared, in effect they relinquished ownership of their entire rentals except their PPOP.
I'm sure you understand what that means Paul?..in how it financially benefited my brothers & I.

Trust stuff set up to keep things legit.

Next year, my parents may be eligible for a pension.

Now I've a got a dad who can't talk about property stuff anymore & I miss that, he spends his days in transient confusion & gets frustrated at times because his quality of life is getting worse. He's seen just about all his friends die & just wants to die in his home with dignity.

I not think that's too much to ask.
Newjerk? can you try harder than dig up another person's blog. My first promo was with Billabong and my name in English is modified with a T, am Perth born but also lived in Sydney to make my $$
It's Absolutely Fabulous if it includes brilliant locations, & high calibre tenants..what more does one want? Understand the power of the two "P"" or be financially challenged
Even better when there is family who are property mad and one is born in some entitlements.....Understand that beautiful women are the exhibitionists we crave attention, whilst hot blooded men are the voyeurs ... A stunning woman can command and takes pleasure in being noticed. Seems not too many understand what it means to hold and own props and get threatened by those who do.
Banks are considered to be law abiding and & rather boring places yeah not true . A bank balance sheet will show capital is dwarfed by their liabilities this means when a portions of loans is falling its problems for the bank.

Yes, I do hope you Dad travels well and yes, he and every other old person deserves our full respect, regardless of their wealth.
He sounds like he has lived a good life and has cared for him family well with the support of your mum. Good on them!
I have a relative in a similar state to you Dad and now, hugging is the main thing I can do for them. I think that gets through the haze.

Paul - house prices are high because the cost of infrastructure for new developments and suburbs are now paid for by the buyer of the land and not the community. In addition we have a 10% GST which adds to the cost of land and houses considerably.

To combat that you want to tax something entirely different (dead people) and you also support increasing the GST.

I really don't think that you could be further from reaching your goals or on a more wrong track than the one you are on now, and I'm also sure that you won't understand any of this.

Quick way to work out if someone really believes in socialism and cares about their fellow humans is to ask if you would like the developed countries to be taxed more so the people in poorer countries can have basic health care and enough to eat.
99.99% of the times, the person would be horrified to be asked to give up what they have so others don't have to see their kids starve to death.

Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is the Australian property market a pyramid scheme or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices really rise forever? These are the questions we address on Australian Property Forum, the premier real estate site for property bears, bulls, investors, and speculators. Members may also discuss matters related to finance, modern monetary theory (MMT), debt deflation, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, property investing, landlords, tenants, debt consolidation, reverse home equity loans, the housing shortage, negative gearing, capital gains tax, land tax and macro prudential regulation.
