If you checked out the many different reasons people are marching you will notice no one is talking about housing affordability. I suspect the majority of these people have no idea what lies ahead, with a severe recession on the way, a property crash, high unemployment, and a crashing economy. We had lots of placards displaying the housing message, and thousands of flyers being handed out. Some people coming away from this march will have more knowledge about the housing issue. Some may put off their purchase of a house, and others who have a house may sell it before they do their dough.

Oxymoron

Sorry but you’ve all failed at understanding what a democracy is.

You do know voting for social change and justice is an oxymoron right?

Let’s test this theory.

Lets vote! Tell me what would you vote for.

Homeowners grants. Or no homeowners grants.
Negative gearing or no negative gearing.
Banning tobacco and smokes or not banning them.
Evolution, creationism or magic.
All cars painted white or mini flags for every household.
Everyone required to only turn right or water to only be served in 100ml bottles.
The first and last arguments have exactly the same social outcome.

That is to say, those who can capitalize on it will. Voting has no effect on society bar the first law. Don’t kill. (The US has a nice, life, liberty, pursuit of happiness) which is what should be the measure of all laws alas this isn’t the US.

After that law was established all the others following it are just people with nothing better to do than to keep on making up new and crazy laws to make you think anything of what they do matters. Every now and again something important comes up like ‘cyanide shall be classed as a controlled substance’ and the house votes 99% in favor as a cyanide release just killed 40 people. Other than that. It’s a free for all of every man woman and child making up anything they want.

Don’t expect them to do anything other than to look after themselves even the smaller parties. Democracy really only works on a small scale. Even America isn’t a true democracy ;) that’s why their politicians move on to certain departments where they can never get fired.

We don’t have a department for researching and learning from previous civilisations or economic models. We ignore 100% all research material (Henry review anyone lol) and our economic modelling goes about as far as what our next pay cheques will look like. Not a single law passed has ever had societies best interests at heart. Sometimes I think any law before even being considered should have a peered reviewed multi state independent analysis with a focus on not how it improves society but how it might deprive them of their liberties. If it does then it’s instantly thrown out. The fact the mining tax was repealed with conditions of school bonuses is a PERFECT example of how ‘democracy’ doesn’t work. What was the justification behind mining tax and the school bonuses wtf indeed. But that’s how democracy works. One party gives a little the other party takes all the while the city burns. Or in our case the economic model which Australia is built on hasn’t changed. There are better models out there and better education systems but they will never get introduced because it would upset the status quo too much.

That will never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever happen. Not when to establish it you would need to vote on it. ‘Hey everyone. From now on all policies come from a think tank peer reviewed research groups with no politicans or voting public allowed to intervene and their mandate would be to ensure scientific method to provide citizens with life liberty and pursuit of happInes for all.’ there would be a instant ‘NO’ we don’t need scientists engineers and city planners and doctors determining how to best create a utopia and fair constitution. How will we get to lord over the masses if everyone suddenly has access to all information and you can create anything whenever or where ever you like.

And how do I get someone to willingly cram themselves into a 40m2 apartment on a 30 year loan at 10x his wage and basically have a legal slave… that’s defiantly taken his life liberty and happiness but you can do it in Australia :) so long as you call it ‘luxury apartments’

I love Australia.
