unless they change the design its not going to be so great for the neighbours.. all that faceted glass reflecting the queensland sun all about the place...
hard to get away building towers like this in a major urban center in china anymore due to all the compensation claims for sunlight pollution. Had 'mirror wars' that occured in beijing with property owners reflecting sun back on faceted glass towers with mirrors in the windows of their apartments.
I must admit I thought that reflected light raising aircon bills, etc. was also something that also got into account with building approvals in oz? I'm sure I've heard of some lawsuits, etc. on just this issue in Brisbane?

Australia is part of Oceania last time I checked or is Russia part of Asia too? Why are we in any way responsible for the overpopulation of other countries? F you borderless world fools, grow a set and protect your country.
Hey BeN we are protecting it from red necks like you who would turn this country into a back water in the middle of a vibrant Asia packed with opportunities for our younguns
Go suck on a lemon and sweeten yourself up and get used to Australians welcoming Asians as our neighbours, friends and trading partners.
Definition of a doom and gloomer from 1993 The last camp is made up of the doom-and-gloomers. Their slogan is "it's the end of the world as we know it". Right now they are convinced that debt is the evil responsible for all our economic woes and must be eliminated at all cost. Many doom-and-gloomers believe that unprecedented debt levels mean that we are on the precipice of a worse crisis than the Great Depression. The doom-and-gloomers hang on the latest series of negative economic data.

Hey skamy do you have to use your multikulti cult buzzwords in every sentence? In my travels through Asia I didn't see a lot of "vibrancy" I saw a lot of poverty and disease and suffering and very little worth aspiring to or importing. If your grand vision for this country is to turn it into a piss stinking ghetto go back to Ireland and learn the lessons of your own busted arse country.

BeN's been to Bali half a dozen times and is an expert on Asia. Who'd have thunk it?

Yeah, we know that's where your heart is herbs ya selfish old git. Mass immigration, foreign investment and multiculturalism would have no effect on housing prices now would they herbs?
BTW: How come you didn't pull up the person I was responding to for not posting about housing prices?

We've had high immigration in the past without it leading to high housing prices.

Quite possibly because Mike almost always comments on housing prices and you almost never do?
The Japanese poured a lot of loot into QLD resorts back in the late 1970s/early 1980s as I recall?
Before they went pop.
"It were not best that we should all think alike; it is difference of opinion that makes horse races." - Mark Twain on why he avoids discussing house prices over at MacroBusiness. "Buy land, they're not making any more of it." - Georgist Land Tax proponent Mark Twain laughing in his grave at humourless idiots like skamy that continually use this quip to justify housing bubbles.
Yes, it's also my recollection that a lot of their projects didn't end well - But hey, they felt driven to do something with all that money that was burning a hole in their pocket at the time maybe? - Apart from 'investing' it in US treasuries??? (But being a long time ago, I wasn't really following it, so don't really know.)

Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is the Australian property market a pyramid scheme or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices really rise forever? These are the questions we address on Australian Property Forum, the premier real estate site for property bears, bulls, investors, and speculators. Members may also discuss matters related to finance, modern monetary theory (MMT), debt deflation, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, property investing, landlords, tenants, debt consolidation, reverse home equity loans, the housing shortage, negative gearing, capital gains tax, land tax and macro prudential regulation.
