This video is talking about a law that will potentially allow the government to dictate where Australian citizens can travel to.
No-one seems to care about personal freedom, I would rather put up with noisy rednecked racists than see columnist get sacked and individual freedoms eroded.
Of all the issues that get debated on here this is probably one of the most important yet it gets ignored.
Definition of a doom and gloomer from 1993 The last camp is made up of the doom-and-gloomers. Their slogan is "it's the end of the world as we know it". Right now they are convinced that debt is the evil responsible for all our economic woes and must be eliminated at all cost. Many doom-and-gloomers believe that unprecedented debt levels mean that we are on the precipice of a worse crisis than the Great Depression. The doom-and-gloomers hang on the latest series of negative economic data.

Mike Carlton was the left-wing version of Andrew Bolt. These loudmouths never added much to the debates. They simply inflame tensions to keep their page hit count up. Good riddance to Carlton.

The treatment of Carlton is a direct attack on free speech in this country. That is not a value to give up lightly. I certainly don't support his choice of words and collective abuse but we do have a right in this country to criticise another country's behavior.
I say let the red necks on both sides rant away- it is better than putting fear into open debate.
This young generation seems to be forgetting the costs of allowing governments too much control over people 's lives.

If I used that sort of language at my workplace — telling other people to "f--k off" — I should expect to be disciplined. I reckon many people would be. Yes, Carlton was not in the office when he unleashed that torrent of abuse, but media people are always at work when they're speaking on the public record.

A direct attack on freedom of speech???
I think you would feel very differently if it was an attack on Islam, everyone seems to be very sensitive about certain races/religions and not others. As a nation we have selective PC perimeters where it's fine to attack certain races and we all scream to high heaven if someone even makes a vague reference to a certain religion and you want to talk about freedom of speech?!
Pro Palestinian protesters walked through the streets of Sydney waving mujaheddin flags, and jihad paraphernalia. They chanted 'death to the Jews' in Arabic and displayed Swastika's. No one as much as blinked, it didn't get a second of attention from main stream media. It was a footnote by some outlets because a greens member went rogue and made some incredibly ignorant comments but by in large it went unnoticed and for the best part, accepted as their right to express their freedom of speech. If Israelis walked the streets chanting 'death to Muslims' I can't imagine we would afford them the same freedom of speech, do you?
What this debate has made clear is you either go all in and have the law in its current form or you remove it all together and it's a free for all. There can't be any middle ground because it is a black and white topic.

There is much much more intolerance towards Islamic people than any other race or religious groups in this country. Whatever he said or did in his private life the end result of this episode is censorship of an important viewpoint shared by many. This country is losing something very important if we lose freedom of speech and many young people today seem to have no concept of where this can lead.
