Hi there,
First time poster, just need some help getting some information about the total property sales in the whole of Australia each year, including both residential property (houses and units) and commercial property transactions, going back as far as one can find.
Is there somewhere I can find this data or a chart showing the trendline in total property sales as I've described?
ABS or SRO of each state perhaps??
Thanks!

Hi JIT, don't know about commercial but Residex publish residential sales volumes each month. Here's the latest...

http://blog.residex.com.au/2014/07/28/july-property-market-update-2/

Also, Alex seems to have charted some historical volumes in the charts below the forum. Not sure if those are from Residex or somewhere else.
1. Epic Fail! Steve Keen's Bad Calls and Predictions.
2. Residential property loans regulated by NCCP Act. Banks can't margin call unless borrower defaults.
3. Housing is second highest taxed sector of Australian Economy. Renters subsidised by highly taxed homeowners.
4. Ongoing improvement in housing affordability. Australian household formation faster than population growth since 1960s.

Thanks Shadow. I'll check with Alex what source the forum charts are from.
Oops, I don't have permission to PM anyone yet, so Alex Barton if you read this...
With those charts at the front of the forum with monthly sales volumes for houses/units, where do you get this data from?
Do you know where I can find similar data for commercial property sales volumes?
Thanks!

JIT - Pete Wargent is building up an impressive collection of charts and data, and also LVO has a wealth of data and they may be able to assist. You could ask them. They are both quite approachable.

RPData have the residential data, and RPData Commercial section should have the commercial sales data somewhere. You could ask their public relations section.

The ABS should have most of the data that you seek although it can be hard to locate. It is on an excel spreadsheet so extracting and graphing it should be easy.
Any expressed market opinion is my own and is not to be taken as financial advice

Hello JIT,

The charts come from Residex data too.

Sorry, I can't help with commercial sales.
