I'm not very bright. But I'm bright enough to figure out that Einstein seemed to be bright.
And I don't have a great memory. But it's good enough to recall that Einstein reckoned:
"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."

This is a terrible idea.
Was the splitting of Czechoslovakia a bad thing? What about the splitting of Yugoslavia? Would the splitting of Ukraine be a bad thing?
Plus "The International Committee of the Red Cross said Wednesday that it considered Ukraine to be in a state of civil war, urging both sides to respect the laws of conflict as civilians bear the brunt." :

I think it is more a case of how they are split that is the problem.
And how to keep it together would also seem to be a problem?
Some problems just don't seem to have good solutions??? - But I was at least 45 before I figured that out. Even 50'ish or more maybe? But then as I've also said, I'm obviously not very bright.

Back in 1981 I was playing a board game called the Russian campaign. It sort of indicated the extreme nature of the casualties the Russians suffered in the war and I found it sort of sickening. I could understand that WW2 was the result of WW1, but what processed them to start WW1? The stuff in the newspapers the kind of bizarre politics I can see rhyme with the type that led to WW1.
You will get WW3, the world's political leaders are screaming for a rumble to suit their twisted agenda's. They always think that their agenda is the the agenda that will trump all agenda's. It is only in the aftermath these are recognized as another chapter in the book of follies.
I can see WW3 starting in a generation or two, just some more work twisting the agenda's is required. Then we can use nuclear weapons with gay abandon. It will be a total war because the agenda's will be total.
Worrying about 295 dead people is a wasted effort in a War Zone, worry about the still living.
The next trick of our glorious banks will be to charge us a fee for using net bank!!! You are no longer customer, you are property!!!

Amongst all the differences between us as humans Count, it would continue to be my hope, that a mutual respect and compassion and even grieving for our war dead, just could ultimately be one of the most poignant forces in bringing us together as opposed to driving us apart.

No, that's not what I was saying. Whether they split or not is largely semantic. But we should try and avoid bloodbaths like Yugoslavia's. There is no reason why these things can't be sorted out amicably.
Whenever you have an argument with someone, there comes a moment where you must ask yourself, whatever your political persuasion, 'am I the Nazi?'
... we should try and avoid bloodbaths like Yugoslavia's ...
Amen to that.

And as to your comment more broadly:
There would seem to be lots of reasons they can't be sorted out amicably; Which would account for the fact they aren't? - Though none of them strike me as especially good reasons. (Which is what I reckon you most likely meant anyway.)
So yes, I believe I understood what you were saying Newjez. And had no hassles with it. While continuing to allow for the fact that there'd be those who do. And being happy to accept their POV too.
Though at the end of the day, ultimately agreeing with you that there wouldn't seem to be 'comparatively good' reasons such shite can't be sorted out 'comparatively amicably'.

Czechoslovakia is a good example of a fairly amicable breakup. As far as I can see, the instances where it is not is because of suppressed historical grievances, or money.
