The Russian military detected a Ukrainian SU-25 fighter jet gaining height towards the MH17 Boeing on the day of the catastrophe. Kiev must explain why the military jet was tracking the passenger airplane, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

The SU-25 is a ground attack aircraft. It has a max speed of 975km per hour and ceiling height of 22,000 feet.
MH17 was at 32,000 feet and traveling at 965km per hour when shot down. The SU-25 would never be in range to fire a missile as it is to low and traveling to slow. The R-60 air to air missile that the SU-25 can carry has a range of 8kms and a 3kg warhead. I doubt a 3kg warhead would destroy a 777 damage it yes.
It has already been confirmed it was ground launched missile by Russian separatist and the Americans, perhaps the only time they have agreed on anything. To bad they boasted of shooting down the plane and actually videoed it, idiots. Although when they realised the mistake they deleted but to late for thousands of people to make copies of it.

The military aircraft, a SU-25, flew within three to five kilometres of the Boeing 777, according to Lt-Gen Kartopolov, and he went on to imply that it shot MH17 down.
He said SU-25s “can briefly climb up to 10,000m (and are) regularly equipped with air-to-air missiles R-60 that can capture and destroy targets of a distance up to 12km and up to 5km as guaranteed”.
Some obviously don't think anything much about this is 'murky'.
I tend towards disagreeing.
But either way, even as just one Aussie, I do feel to express my thanks to the local villagers and coalminers (plus others undoubtedly) who combed the crash site for the remains of the passengers and crew of MH17. And have absolutely no criticism to make of their actions in doing so, even if others describe those actions as 'unprofessional'. So "My thanks" - From one Australian.
I really hope they didn't know what hit them ..passengers & crew... Can you imagine the awful realization that you're going to die & you don't have the means to prevent it?
I feel for those local WA kids who died, their parents mst be so devastated.. To lose all your kids in those circumstances just gut wrenching.
As someone said to me this morning..
"just another mass murder so expect more in this world"
So true.
Newjerk? can you try harder than dig up another person's blog. My first promo was with Billabong and my name in English is modified with a T, am Perth born but also lived in Sydney to make my $$ It's Absolutely Fabulous if it includes brilliant locations, & high calibre tenants..what more does one want? Understand the power of the two "P"" or be financially challenged Even better when there is family who are property mad and one is born in some entitlements.....Understand that beautiful women are the exhibitionists we crave attention, whilst hot blooded men are the voyeurs ... A stunning woman can command and takes pleasure in being noticed. Seems not too many understand what it means to hold and own props and get threatened by those who do. Banks are considered to be law abiding and & rather boring places yeah not true . A bank balance sheet will show capital is dwarfed by their liabilities this means when a portions of loans is falling its problems for the bank.

I'm with you all the way there Herbie, the locals who have had more than their fair share of catastrophe going around them at the moment and particularly the ones that searched for and retrieved the bodies deserve far better feedback than what they got from our opportunistic political leaders.

+1.
Im ashamed at the Australian press, especially the ABC.
Continually complaining about the bodies being left out to rot, while in fact the rebels were chasing up a refrigerated train that obviously could have been of use in warfare elsewhere while resources were put into scouring 30+ sq-km for the remains, and then whinging about said train being delayed for a couple of hours while the lines were being reprogrammed to allow a humanitarian mission to pass through contested territory!
The blatant propagandising using the dead as sheilds to hide behind was shameful.
WHAT WOULD EDDIE DO? MAAAATE! Share a cot with Milton?
I'm not sure why articles like this didn't seem to hang around too long in the Oz MSM reports? :
"While other nations were criticising Russia and pro-Russian separatist for their role in the MH17 crash, Malaysia opted for a ‘silent diplomatic’ approach and it worked, said The New York Times."
“After cautiously refusing to blame pro-Russian rebels for shooting down MH17, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Razak used secret diplomacy to reach an agreement for the transfer of the bodies and black box recording devices from the plane to Malaysian representatives."
Sydney Morning Herald also touched on Najib’s technique in reaching the agreement and said the tragedy was deeply personal as his step-grandmother was on board the plane.
