Well, I went there last night and the lobster mountain is still there, if a bit attenuated these days.

It's about A$85 a head which is very much on the high side for a hotel buffet but doesn't begin to be a luxury dining price. Still, if you want the first sitting you still have to book three days in advance. The lobster are Boston lobsters that are barely bigger than yabbies when it comes right down to it, and to tell the truth they were a little dry. The sashimi was pretty good though, at least for China.

If you do get your arse to Beijing, we can go check out some more!

Does that include drinks?

Three years ago I was paying 120rmb ($20 then) for the Sheraton Zhongshan buffet which included as much self service keg Tsingtao as you could drink.

No need to book for residents.
Matthew, 30 Jan 2016, 09:21 AM Your simplistic view is so flawed it is not worth debating. The current oversupply will be swallowed in 12 months. By the time dumb shits like you realise this prices will already be :?: rising.

I bough 50 crayfish once,
live.
Kept them in a big plastic bin in the kitchen.
I ate them.
It took some time, 6 in one day, i ended up laying on my bed with the airconditioner on full bore blowing on me.
I nearly died. This is no joke, i nearly caught fire.

Deals like that still exist, I think. RMB460 would easily be the most expensive buffet I have seen in China. Not that I am a big fan of buffets in general.

Edit: on reflection I expect it would be RMB150-170 now. Dining in general has probably gotten 25-30% more expensive in the last 3 years, mainly because of the wages.

Yeah. I ate 1.5 of these and could have handled another 5 if I wanted to damage my health.

I never actually priced my meals up there and I normally don't when it is on account. Not a big fan of the buffet type servings myself.
