You admit the 97 percent consensus is bullshit, thats enough for me.
Yes warming happened over the last century, global warming is a real thing, warming happens (so does cooling) but only half of scientists think its mostly man made!
If the warmists lied about the consensus, what else did they lie about???
aaahh... so because a poll done by a newspaper has questionable results, its proof global warming doesnt exist ???
When a counter poll still found that only 4% of scientists dont believe global warming is happening, 77% of those scientists believe humans could be a factor in its occurence ( with a few more on the fence ) - and 52% convinced humans are the main perpetrator - hardly an argument to say we've been hoodwinkled by a few extremist views and throw out their views and start again...

The wall street journal is not a reliable source of science, of anything actually. It's not all the news fit to print, it's all the news that fits the views of the American middleclass.

Abstract ...Among abstracts expressing a position on AGW, 97.1% endorsed the consensus position that humans are causing global warming.
I have omitted the leading portion of the abstract for brevity, and because quite frankly it would only confuse the non-science minded on the forum. If you choose to read it please do so slowly and with an appreciation of the dates and criteria.
For example, when it states "66.4% of abstracts expressed no position on AGW" it can be implied that the abstract reviewed did not specifically relate to the causes. It may have been a discussion of the number of mosquito generations that have been observed season to season since the earth has been heating up. While this is no doubt attributed to climate change and or global warming, the key words for the consensus study, the causes of such would not be considered relevant to the scientists publishing the work.
From the end of the abstract.

Our analysis indicates that the number of papers rejecting the consensus on AGW is a vanishingly small proportion of the published research

Dave quite clearly said warming does exist - he was just pointing out that there is no scientific consensus on what causes it.

The Myth of the Climate Change '97%'
It certainly is a myth - as demonstrated by Dave.
It came about when a group of global warming alarmists reviewed a cherry-picked subset of abstracts, and then claimed that 97% of those abstracts agreed climate change was mostly man made. Many of the authors of those papers later disputed the alarmists' interpretation of their work. The main issue is that the people who reviewed the abstracts and claimed 97% consensus were themselves climate change alarmists, and hence bias towards that conclusion.

It's worse than that, people should just stop reading once they see the name Joseph Bast...
Joseph Bast is the co-founder, president and CEO of the Heartland Institute, a think tank/PR firm funded by big business interests.
The Heartland Institute is one of the PR firms that the tobacco industry employed to tell us that there is no evidence of harm in smoking.

What do you mean by 'right now'? Today? This month? This year? Over the last decade?
Do you think it's happening right now?
By how much do you believe temperatures have warmed over the past couple of decades?
you are only looking at atmospheric data i see?
taking that cherry picking skill for property data and putting it into good use into discussions on climate ?
edit: but here's some more charts : moving averages
linear trend
removing exogeneous factors
Quote:
Foster and Rahmstorf (2011) used multiple linear regression to remove the effects of solar and volcanic activity from the surface and lower troposphere temperature data. When removing these short-term effects, the warming trend has barely even slowed since 1998 (0.163°C per decade from 1979 through 2010, vs. 0.155°C per decade from 1998 through 2010, and 0.187°C per decade for 2000 through 2010).
my opinion? I believe the "Skeptics" want the masses to believe the "alarmists" are changing story to debunk research to date, and are throwing all they have, as there is too much money to be lost by some old hats.
and honestly, if climate change acts as another catalyst leaves to cleaner, less polluting technologies - i dont think that is a bad thing .... the worst we can do is make the change and find out we weren't having an effect anyway, but have less cities on the earth like Tianjin where your eyes burn in their sockets from the air.
if its proven the humans are a factor and made the changes , then we've made the earth's atmosphere cleaner AND stopped some potential envirtonmental disasters
i find it unbelievable that people will go out of their way to put a roadblock into cleaner lifestyles - that may also have positive effects on the habitability of our planet.

If the oceans are getting so much warmer then why all the extra sea ice?
Why did CO2 cause atmospheric warming for 100 years, but then 20 years ago it suddenly started causing ocean warming instead?
No doubt when the oceans start cooling they will tell us the warming has started hiding under mountains.
