Chinese Developers Want To Buy Half Of Meriton From Harry Triguboff for $3 billion Greg McKenna LINK Harry Triguboff has been building his company Meriton for the best part of 50 years. The 81-year-old is also on the record as saying he never wants to retire.
But the AFR reports this morning that he is considering an offer he received two weeks ago from a Chinese developer who builds 200,000 units a year to buy half of Meriton for up to $3 billion dollars.
Triguboff told the AFR:
I am thinking I could sell part of [Meriton],
It is very early stages, but I could be prepared to sell the development part of the business and then the family could continue to collect the rent on the units I already own. Maybe I could retire soon and they could run the investment business.
Triguboff also said that he would only sell if the staff who work for him now are protected in the deal.
“I am not selling anything if they are going to start firing people… Other people think about shareholders, well, I think about my people”

This guy has been an absolute disaster for Australia. We would have been much better if he'd never been allowed to come here.
Becomes one of the wealthiest people in Australia by building apartments... then lobbies Government with all that money to keep increasing immigration... just to feed the demand for his business. More population, more money to the building indsutry, they get more influence, they lobby for increased immigration....This is a vicious cycle that now makes building the most lucrative non-mining industry, and year-10 dropouts earning more (much more) than university graduates.
All this immigration makes our cities into over-crowded rat-races. They were once relaxing and pleasant places to live. It means people have to spend much more of their income on housing (as increased demand leads to increased prices). It stifles industry (as salaries have to increase in order for people to pay for accommodation, thereby making industry less competitive in the world market), it breaks down our own Aussie culture. It is an absolute nation destroying disaster. Triguboff and his ilk have destroyed this country.

Interesting background ...
"He was born in Dalian (Darien at the time), China on 3 March 1933, the son of Russian Jews who fled to northeastern China after the rise of Lenin.[4][5] He spent his early childhood in the Jewish community in Tianjin[4] and in 1947, moved to Australia[4] to be educated at the Scots College in Sydney. He later graduated with a degree in textiles from the University of Leeds in England before working in textile businesses in Israel and South Africa.
He returned to Australia in 1960 and became an Australian citizen in 1961. He did a variety of odd jobs including running a taxi fleet and owning a milk round in Chatswood. He tried selling real estate and worked as an assistant to a lecturer at university but still wasn't successful at either. He then bought some land in Roseville and hired a builder to begin building his house. The builder repeatedly let him down, so Triguboff threw him out and finished the job himself, learning from his mistakes.[6]"

It's amazing the number of empires that have been constructed on a chance event.
I guess some people recognise the opportunity and others don't.

Some of these business types are simply narcissists who can't let go.
It was once said that as long as there were other countries more powerful than Germany, Hitler would not be able to relax — his urges to invade and conquer were compulsive.
Property developers enjoy the conquest of land, like a man enjoys each fresh conquest of a woman's body.
It wasn't long ago there was a case reported in the media where an unnamed property developer had been charged with molesting his daughter's body when she was young.
There was also the case of a well-known property spruiker, who in his medical days and before he was sent to jail, used his fingers to invade women's bodies.
The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt — Bertrand Russell

You are quick to deride people like Triguboff, I wonder if you would be reacting equally if he was an Aussie not an "ethnic". Those ethnics come from places of Europe where it's hard to live a quality of life. Those Italians, Slavs, Greeks, & other various Euro heritage have come to this country from a life of some hardship. They've been inviolved in business of making $ because they know exactly hat they are bloody doing.
They understand the principles of working hard, & just doing the best they can for their life & their loved ones. Yes, some of these oldies did not have much in education but they lived in times where they had NO choice ..like you & I. Some of these ethnic oldies in their seventies & eighties lived in Europe just surviving ...not living the right to be a child in their miserable childhoods. My own mother had an abusive hard drinking Father, who when drunk would get quite violent, the whole family lived in fear & times were hard. What sort of childhood did her siblings & her enjoy? Being treated like shit...
Yet, they didn't give up & feel sorry for themselves, they aimed to imrove their life & not whine & give up.
You are quick to ignore that someone like Triguboff does have one codes of ethics in that he wishes his staff to be retained..does that describe a man that doesn't give a shit!
The present day mindset & code of Aussies ethics consist of some idiots of varied generations addicted to social media, being selfish, & bagging everyone but themselves for their shit life.
That's a great role model .
That's what helping oz go down the toilet.
Those who want to blame others for their crappy lives. TAke a good hard look at yourselves.
It's people like you & Moops etc who shit on this country.
Another thing about wealthy men.. They don't know when to stop working.. My own Father worked in property till he was 80..
Newjerk? can you try harder than dig up another person's blog. My first promo was with Billabong and my name in English is modified with a T, am Perth born but also lived in Sydney to make my $$ It's Absolutely Fabulous if it includes brilliant locations, & high calibre tenants..what more does one want? Understand the power of the two "P"" or be financially challenged Even better when there is family who are property mad and one is born in some entitlements.....Understand that beautiful women are the exhibitionists we crave attention, whilst hot blooded men are the voyeurs ... A stunning woman can command and takes pleasure in being noticed. Seems not too many understand what it means to hold and own props and get threatened by those who do. Banks are considered to be law abiding and & rather boring places yeah not true . A bank balance sheet will show capital is dwarfed by their liabilities this means when a portions of loans is falling its problems for the bank.
How much money would a builder make from buying a house for $1m, knocking it down and selling the units for $600k each?
The right and left both want a vermin fest. So I guess Harry is just riding the wave he's been given. Not just any wave either, like one of those massive waves in Hawaii.
stinkbug omosessuale Frank Castle is a liar and a criminal. He will often deliberately take people out of context and use straw man arguments. Frank finally and unintentionally gives it up and admits he got where he is, primarily via dumb luck! See here Property will be 50-70% off by 2016.

In Australian English, wog is more often a term for members of ethnic minorities from Southern Europe and Middle East. Since the late 20th century, some members of these ethnicities have attempted to reclaim "wog", such as the Greek Australian comedian Nick Giannopoulos. Nevertheless, its use by other Australians remains controversial.
More recently European-Australian performing artists have taken ownership of the term "wog", defusing its original pejorative nature—the popular 1980s stage show Wogs Out of Work created by Nick Giannopoulos and Simon Palomares was an early example. The production was followed on television with Acropolis Now, starring Giannopoulos, Palomares, George Kapiniaris and Mary Coustas, and films The Wog Boy and Wog Boy 2: Kings of Mykonos and parodies such as those of Santo Cilauro, Eric Bana, Vince Colosimo, Nick Giannopoulos, Frank Lotito, Mary Coustas and SBS Television's offbeat Pizza TV series have continued this change in Australian cultural history—with some even classifying a genre of 'wogsploitation' of pop-culture products being created by and for a proudly "wog" market.[5] Recent works of the genre have been used by Australians of non-English speaking backgrounds to assert ethnic identity, rather than succumb to ethnic stereotype.[6] Upon the release of Wog Boy 2, Giannopoulos discussed the contemporary use of the term "wog" in the Australian context:
I think by defusing the word 'wog' we've shown our maturity and our great ability to adapt and just laugh things off, you know... When I first came [to Greece] and I started trying to explain to them why we got called 'wog' they'd get really angry about it, you know. They were, "Why? Why they say this about the Greek people?" You know? But then when they see what we've done with it—and this is the twist—that we've turned it into a term of endearment, they actually really get into that...
Thus, in contemporary Australia, the term "wog" may, in certain contexts, be viewed as a "nickname" rather than a pejorative term[7]—akin to the nicknames ascribed within Australian English to other historically significant cultural groupings such as the English (nicknamed Poms), the Americans (nicknamed Yanks) and New Zealanders (nicknamed Kiwis).

Seems as though ever since the west embraced wogs we've become more corrupt like them.
Here we had wogs out of work etc, over in the US they had Scorcese.
The NSW Labor party was corrupted by mostly wogs.
Nothing is sacred today.
