With any luck, you will lose your shirt. And with a little more, some others will keep theirs.
I have lost many "shirts", and always managed to get better one's and more of them.

Hope is a poor mans bread, you almost sound destitute.

I bought my most recent shirts from http://www.turnbullandasser.co.uk/

Happy 2014 everyone. :tu:

2014 marks 7 years since the GFC.

Property in tight markets will continue to trend upwards.

The stock market will rise modestly.

Interest rates may start to rise at the end of 2014, as the economy continues to grow.

Govt debt will grow, and the govt will continue to make cuts. Canberra will stagnate but survive.

I will likely leave rents for my tenants where they are for another 12 months.

My goal for 2014 is to pay another $75k off my PPOR loan.
---------------------------------------------------------------

While it's true that those who win never quit, and those who quit never win, those who never win and never quit are idiots.

It is quite likely 2014 will be a subdued version of 2013. With a few black swans flying about. Steady as she goes through the minefield.

That's interesting.
Why and when. Early in 2014 or late?
Any expressed market opinion is my own and is not to be taken as financial advice

japan intends to turn off nuclear plants, they need to get energy from somewhere and our black low sulphur thermal is the best and closest option for them in terms of clean burning.

i'd say it won't kick in until later next year

I think dollar/pound will hit 2/1 by mid year

Gold under 1000 usd

House prices in UK up 5 - 10%

House prices in Oz up 0 - 5%

Iron ore 120 usd by year end

Gold prices will fall to between $800 and $900 US dollars by end of 2014.
for my 2c I believe it will spend a decent period tapping the high $900's - 1K bracket when it finally decides to get there. For what it's worth I've held this belief for quite some time but it's taken a couple of liters of festive vodka lemon tonic for me to state it publicly. I'm a bad man.
APF - a place where serious people don't take themselves too seriously. There's nothing else like it.

Australian Property Forum is an economics and finance forum dedicated to discussion of Australian and global real estate markets and macroeconomics, including house prices, housing affordability, and the likelihood of a property crash. Is there an Australian housing bubble? Will house prices crash, boom or stagnate? Is the Australian property market a pyramid scheme or Ponzi scheme? Can house prices really rise forever? These are the questions we address on Australian Property Forum, the premier real estate site for property bears, bulls, investors, and speculators. Members may also discuss matters related to finance, modern monetary theory (MMT), debt deflation, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin Ethereum and Ripple, property investing, landlords, tenants, debt consolidation, reverse home equity loans, the housing shortage, negative gearing, capital gains tax, land tax and macro prudential regulation.

Forum Rules: The main forum may be used to discuss property, politics, economics and finance, precious metals, crypto currency, debt management, generational divides, climate change, sustainability, alternative energy, environmental topics, human rights or social justice issues, and other topics on a case by case basis. Topics unsuitable for the main forum may be discussed in the lounge. You agree you won't use this forum to post material that is illegal, private, defamatory, pornographic, excessively abusive or profane, threatening, or invasive of another forum member's privacy. Accusations, attacks, abuse or threats, litigious or otherwise, directed against the forum or forum administrators aren't tolerated and will result in immediate suspension of your account for a number of days depending on the severity of the attack. No spamming or advertising in the main forum. Spamming includes repeating the same message over and over again within a short period of time. Don't post ALL CAPS thread titles. The Advertising and Promotion Subforum may be used to promote your Australian property related business or service. Active members of the forum who contribute regularly to main forum discussions may also include a link to their product or service in their signature block. Members are limited to one actively posting account each. A secondary account may be used solely for the purpose of maintaining a blog as long as that account no longer posts in threads.
