"health costs are exploding" Yet Health Insurance profits are soaring. Go figure (Brainwashed Excluded) :lol
ok maybe not ...

Still, the Private Health Insurance Administration Council figures show profit for the industry fell by 12.6 per cent to $1.32 billion over the year to September. Insurers' premium revenue grew by an annual 7.1 per cent, PHIAC said, but benefits increased 9 per cent.

HCF reported a $106.5 million net profit in 2013, up 26 per cent.

Insurance in Australia is a cartel, much like telecommunications, groceries and energy. If a cartel cannot increase their profits every year, nobody can. It takes someone as stupid as Rodney Adler to fail at insurance here.

Edit: Or John Neal apparently.

Health insurance is expensive as is, I am paying $6000 a year for myself and my family. If it keeps going up, we are definitely heading the US route ...

The current out of pocket expense is $14.40, what's being suggested is increasing it to $19.40, if the doctor uses AMA guidelines, though a doctor is already able to charge whatever they want for consultations.

I agree, not a great deal to working people, but to pensioners and people on the edges of society, that can mean eating for a few days.

Also, how does a 'no-show' cost at all?
You mean a patient doesn't show up and someone is charging a fee to the government? just move on to the next patient.

Britain has millions more people than Australia, it's NHS is very similar to ours, and it includes dental care, why can they afford such things and we cannot?

How much are the immigrants costing the health system?

We should have an immigrant tax. A loan of tens of thousands, even a hundred or two, that they pay off over their life times. We should also be taxing property investors more.

Anyway, it's to be expected given the retardation of the country. It's a shame we have such a pussy nanny state where we all have to pay for the idiocy of hyperchondriacs. I don't particularly want to pay $5 when all I need is anti biotics or something very simple, which is nearly always the case.

Yeah good luck getting rid of that attitude in any hurry. The right wing is ridiculously guilty of it too in other ways, like with property.

Frank Castle is a liar and a criminal. He will often deliberately take people out of context and use straw man arguments.
Frank finally and unintentionally gives it up and admits he got where he is, primarily via dumb luck!

You really earn 375,000 per year? Congratulations, that's impressive.

And yes, it will keep going up. There is an arrangement where once a year the insurance companies submit their proposed premium rises to the government for review. They propose a 14% increase, and settle for a 7% increase. Insurance costs have risen at around double CPI for more than a decade and I don't see them changing that. Lots of long living baby boomers to care for unfortunately, and their care does not come cheap.
