Really, I tell you if i want a car i buy it, if the dealer wants to sell it to me they do. I bought a Lexus hybrid because i like the fuel economy (8.2L per 100 km) and the fact that it has a 7 year warrantee and an all wheel drive plus active cruise control. It cost $100,000.00 i could have bought a holden but they refuse to build a fuel efficient modern vehicle.
You paid about 100k and then worry about fuel economy? You've burned value equal to 10 to 15 years of fuel supply for the extra 50k.
I get the impression you live at Margaret River? A hybrid will actually burn more fuel than a standard engine on the open road, they are good for city traffic and completely useless everywhere else. A stock standard eco boost Falcon would kill it on Fuel economy on the open road.....what's the point?

Nobody can compete with the degree of finish on the Lexus.

....... the only factory that produces Rolls Royce cars is the original one, located in Goodwood, England. The only Rolls Royce models that are currently being manufactured are the Rolls Royce Ghost and the Rolls Royce Phantom. Both are luxury cars that sell for no less than two hundred thousand dollars. This factory is home to the entire process of Rolls Royce production, from the designers who work at the factory to develop the next generation of Rolls Royce models, to the assembly line of workers who put the cars together, to the testing of those cars to check for problems with the vehicle's inner workings. Since this is the only factory where Rolls Royce models are made, residents of Goodwood are lucky to be the only ones to enjoy the relatively low prices on Rolls Royce afforded by low shipping costs.
The bodies and engines for Rolls Royce vehicles are made in Germany. They are painted, trimmed and assembled in England.

Even a conventional Falcon running LPG will give significant fuel cost savings. The added advantage of regular oil/oil filter changes (10000 Kms) the things will do a million kilometres.
Whilst the Kia and Hyundai branded Korean cars are getting better in build quality I don't see them doing the million k's yet.

Plus it's not like 8.2l/100 is terribly good. If he was that concerned about fuel economy he could have gotten a Yaris or something.
Foxbat is everything that is wrong with the older generation and this country. Dumb as shit, rich as shit(very much underservedly), seemingly has the majority vote.
They don't want to look like the two bit bogan garbage they are, and they can afford not to.
But hey, Labor had a chance to end all this sickness from the rent seeker parasites and they didn't. They made it a lot worse. They were shockingly bad. They were the worst government in history, but not because of what the right wingers would say. It is entirely the left's fault.
All the more reason to pray for a depression so we can throw the likes of foxbat into the gutter where they belong.

A neighbor told me his current petrol model Falcon runs cheaper in the country than an old duel fuel Falcon he's got.
Quite possible.. depending on how much older the older one was. Like for like though LPG should still be cheaper.
Even the older gas systems using 1.5 times the fuel for the same distance still work out cheaper.. (subject to fuel price)
LPG in Melbourne is near as to 90 cents a litre and at 1.5 times consumption one could be looking at a $1.35 petrol price. Petrol is currently $1.42/$1.45 so significant savings are not there.
Direct injection gas systems giving a 1.1 or 1.2 though will still be cheaper with a $1 to $1.10 petrol equivelant for same distance.
My Hilux is Dual Fuel and it is a 1993 model (480000 K's on the clock) so uses about 50% more gas to go the same distance as on Petrol. Suprisingly though when off road the gas consumption does not change much whereas petrol consumption increases by a considerable margin.

A liter of LPG is physically lighter and contains less energy being a lighter molecular chain of petroleum. The opposite being true of diesel which is a heavy molecular chain. I assume LPG mixes more readily with air for oxygen. The best I'd get my LPG in the outer suburbs is about 13 liters to the 100km.

Repeat fuel figures for the RX450h are as of today after a bit of lead foot action around Perth 8.3 L per 100km, that is for a 2.2 ton SUV all wheel drive. Driving in the country at about 90km per hour on flat ground gets around 6.6L per 100km. Please compare apples with apples. A ford s a 2 wheel drive vehicle the weighs around 1.7 tons?? The Lexus is the most fuel efficient vehicle we have and as we replace our vehicles we will look at another hybrid lexus. Remember the 7 year Warranty. Have you replaced any parts on your ford since you bought it? Peter :pop:

I don't even have to think about this. Taxi drivers in Perth are switching to Toyota Prius cars. These are the people at the bottom of the food chain they are very sensitive to the costs of running a car. I would take there advise before anyones. Peter :pop:

Falcon, one wheel drive, although you can order two wheel drive if you want it.

Most taxis are in the inner city where it benefits.

Well i was looking at cars in that price range, i just thought the Lexus was best for me. It also just so happens to be a hybrid. The transmission system is so smooth, electric motors and an infinity drive no clunking of gears. So no dollars and cents just a great car. Peter :pop:
