You have a really weird way of looking at things.

If the Germans failed to get more oil, then they failed to get more oil. The oil didn't fail to get itself to the Germans. Oil doesn't think. It doesn't make decisions.

Machines and bombs don't think either. People are responsible for designing and making machines and using them and supplying them with fuel. And they are responsible for obtaining fuel.

Do you think that right before that bullet went into Hitler's brain it was thinking "You bastard oil! You turned your back on me! Now im going to enter this man's brain!"
The point is the Allies won because they had oil, not because of skill. It didn't matter that the Germans killed 5 allied tanks for every German loss and best that only slowed the allies down. The only thing that stopped many German tanks was when they ran out of fuel. The Germans had nothing off the oil fueled motor vehicle transport that the Allies had. The German depended on steam train and horse draw lorry.

But in terms of skill Germany and Japan were the great ones. The reason the war started was over access to and control of oil. The last of Japans reserves were gone in 1943, they were even worse off than the Germans.

That Allied pursuit of the War revealed an almost total absence of imagination. The Germans and Japanese are still the master race and the rest are genetic rejects. :lol

After a little thought, id 'invent' either gasification (really simple tech), or maybe the synthetic colour purple (a little harder, but comes from coal tar) or the shipping of ice to temperate and tropical cities.

All of these things made huge fortunes, and were very simple.

the simplest and most profitable way to make a fortune if you went back in time (unprepared) would be using the patent system.

i'd patent the hell out of everything, which takes very little investment in time or even technical knowledge.

Well wasn't time travel. But an Alien conquered Earth by patenting every next advance in one SF story. The original novel was good too, still got it.

Actually it was the shortage of oil that defeated the Nazis.

They 40 million barrels per year of conventional oil and about another 40 million barrels per year of synthetic.

Russia had about 180 million barrels per year. The British had about 140 million barrels per year. The Americans going over 1000 million barrels per year.

In 1944 Germany had a tenth of supplies required to train aircraft pilots despite producing enough planes. Essentially Germany was sending pilots into the sky with little training and was fighting with virtually no air power. The thousand jet fighters they had near the end probably would have shot the allied air forces out of the Sky if they had the fuel and the pilots. The Me 262 took an allied plane down everytime it took to the sky.

If the Nazi's had of taken the Stalingrad they probably would have won the war. By then they had ran out of their reserves and those of the countries they conquered. In terms of technology the Germans were ahead in just about every avenue.

Today Australia alone consumes the amount of oil that WW2 was being fought on.
Nuclear power will shrug off the need for oil.
It will be a thing of the past just like whale oil that it replaced.

Nuclear power will shrug off the need for oil.
If that was so easy, we would be already there.

France is the world's leader in percentage terms with 3/4's of its electricity from nuclear power.

Dreams and empirical reality are two different things.
